I notice that tv stations like MTV and VH-1 don't have Sundays dedicated to church and God, however, all the Black tv stations do. Why does the Black community have a deeper and much stronger faith than the White tv stations (which is practically every other station). Even the Latin and Asian channels dedicate Saturdays and Sundays to church. What is different about this picture?

The god of the dollar is more prevalent in the white capitalist communities.

because there are people of many faiths and the company could endanger their reputation by having anything dedicated to one church. It would cause others try to claim equality or just loose intrest in that program and move on...and they DONT want that. Certain stations are made for just certain people but not massive stations like MTV or VH1. I dont think you labeled this question right either...what do you mean by "the black community...the latin and asian"?

MTV has rap and hip hop, and that is probably all they play in "black community", since it's generally theyre favorite type of music

No station should be obligated to air religious broadcast.

Some "feeds" are not stations but are just "channels" on the internet or a satellite transponder and do not fall under "station"
FCC rules and regulations.

That being said, most stations want to carry traditional religious broadcast, because they are expected to, and as a service to their subscribers/customers .

There are so many stations and internet sites, that there is not a problem finding what you need.

(my problem is that there is so much I could never view it all)

Outward showing of religious activity no more makes you a CHRISTIAN (sitting in a church for example) , than riding in an airplane makes you a 747 Jetliner pilot..

(poor example, but you get the point)

Black & white are colors, not races. That said let me tell you that I think that circumstance & family lead to religious fevor. If it was important to your family growing up then it will be important to you as an adult sooner or later. If you look into the history of Africa you will realize that from the days of the Pharoh's to today there has always been deep faith....which cannot be said for the folks from Europe. At least according to the books I have read. Just a thought.

Um, maybe because they understand that a large percentage of their viewers aren't Christian? Or even religious?

How self-centered can you possibly be? It's not enough that religion is taking over our schools and our government, but you want all of the TV stations as well? Gee willikers!

MTV and VH-1 are for entertainment. Church is not entertainment. Though some people may refute that.

We are a secular nation and no particular religion is promoted. Television is part of our capitalist economic system, and since ViaCom makes more money on Sunday without religious programming, that's why they do it.

You can't force them to air what you want.

Nowhere in our constitution is religion required, only that you have freedom of religion and nonbelievers have the same rights.

Welcome to the United States of America and the free enterprise system.

Biography Channel usually has a few hours of Mysteries of the Bible on Sunday mornings. Does that count?
