Lots of people were crucified.
Lots of people have been beaten to death and they've done this for other people.
Of course, they also did it knowing they were only human and didn't know for sure if anything lay beyond death.
If Jesus was god/son of god he wasn't really sacrificing anything. He knew he'd be up and around in just a few days.
Honestly, what's the big deal?

I think most of you would go through a days agony if you knew it would bring eternal reward to everyone else....wouldn't you?
I don't know, it just doesn't sound like much of a sacrifice.

The big deal is that He was perfect. No fault and he had to die.

You are right many people were crucified. But no one faced the pain as he did.
I know that everyone faced the same physical pain.

Christ went through what no one will ever:

Everyone, those who see, those who walk, all people including those who he healed all yelled "crucify Him!"

God has never turned His back on anyone. If anyone comes to Him, even on their death bed, they can go to Heaven. God suffers with you in all the steps of your walk, even when you stray away.

God that day turned his back on a Jesus who became sin. Jesus took the sins of all and fought and won against the penalty of death.

No one stood up for Jesus. And the worst of all, for the first time ever was separated from His father. That pain will never be equaled.

Jesus knew this pain before it happened yet he agreed to do this for us. This is grace.

Now everyone can go to heaven because a perfect man atoned for the sins of all that now we are reconcilled and have direct access to the One who waits for us.

This is a good question. Often we praise the act of Jesus being crucified, but fail to see it from his perspective.

Yes, thousands have been crucified, and Jesus' was just as bad.

However, when we look at how He cried out "Why have you forsaken me?" , we see what really was horrible about the crucifixion.

Jesus lived his life in fellowship with the Father. However, on the night before his murder, Jesus trembled at the thought of His father leaving him alone to die.. The Father poured out his wrath on the Son, by turning the other way as the Romans destroyed his body and shamed Him.

It wasnt the crucifixion that was the sacrifice, it was taking the full wrath of God for the iniquities of others. The physical aspect was a mere visual representation of the spiritual sacrifice.

When you live a life without commiting a crime or a sin and are killed for it, you can say He made no sacrifice. He died for no crime and He died so everyone else would be forgiven. He was scourged and beaten to the point you couldn't tell if He was a man anymore and never cursed his tormentors. He listened to the thief on the cross next to Him, even as He was dying He took the time to listen to what someone else had to say and accept them.

When another person on this earth does all those things and never sins, you can say it's not a big deal. Until then, it's the only time in the history of the world that it's ever happened, and it won't happen again. :)

Jesus was a perfect creation. But prior to that he existed in the heavens with his heavenly father.Jesus did not have to give up his heavenly existence and become 'lower than angels' but he did because of his great love for mankind.
As a perfect creation, the pain Jesus would have experienced was far greater than any of us imperfect humans would ever experience. Not only that but Jesus had to maintain his integrity and remain faithful to his father till death. He also had to withstand the ridicule and slander his sacrifical death had been placed on his fathers name.
Jehovah by allowing his only begotten to suffer and die also displayed great love for mankind.Jehovah had allowed his only begotten, who had been with Him in the heavens for eons to actually die - be nonexistent for three days - that would have been heartwrenching to experience.
The big deal is that neither Jesus nor Jehovah had to do this. The two greatest, most powerful spirit creatures in the universe went through great pain and agony for us,mere dust, really is a big deal!

Lots of ppl were crucified but no one did it freely.
The big deal is that in a world Full of pain, God was showing us, that He was not immune to it. Through his death, we have the forgiveness of sins.

Also, it is a sacrifice because imagine having the power to "call upon a thousand legions at my disposal" but willingly not using your divine attributes.

Actually, it wasn't the physical pain of the cross that was the most horrific. It was the burden of the sins of the world, the unleashing of the gates of Hell, if you will, onto the shoulders of Christ. His physical suffering was unimagineable, but far worse was the pain of bearing the full wrath of God for the sins of the world. Most people really camp down on the torture of his physical death, and it WAS torture. BUT, the worst of Jesus' pain was due to bearing the wrath of His Father for the sins of the world..He became Sin for us. That was the torture. He writhed in pain that was not just physical, but emotional and spiritual...a pain that no other man will ever know....Those apart from Christ will oneday experience eternal separation from God and physical torturous pain, but only one Man has ever borne that pain for the whole world's sins simultaneously.

The sacrifice was that Christ didn't deserve to die. He was perfect & sinless, and never broke one of God's laws. Therefore he was murdered! Humans didn't sacrifice him, God did. Since Jesus was God, He sacrificed himself, to cover our debt of death to God for our sins.

We are all sinners and imperfect, not because of God, but because of Adam & the fall of man in the Garden of Eden.

[God gave Adam & Eve freewill, and then gave them rules, which they didn't follow, so they ruined it for all of humanity! Just because God knows what is going to happen, doesn't mean he was the reason, He just allows it to happen.]

The Bible says in the book of Romans "ALL have sinned and fallen short of Gods glory." And that" the wages of sin is death." That is eternal spiritual death; you do not go to heaven!

But the book of Romans also tells us that "eternal life is God's free gift...” and that we can receive it through Jesus Christ. Jesus was God and therefore sinless, having no counts of death against Him, but they murdered him on the cross they executed him for not liking the things he taught and said which was "Truth." Jesus being God could very well have saved himself and Jesus even states that in the book of Matthew 26:52-54 ...This is just before Jesus' arrest He says: "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?"

So He knew what must be done and He did it because he loved us. Another part of the Sacrifice is that look at all the miracles he preformed...Healing the ill and raising the dead, would you kill someone that could help humanity that much? But He knew what must happen so that he could save those to come in future generations...Another sacrifice. He died to save us from ourselves. Which goes back to an understanding of sin and being able to recognize it in yourself and see that you are powerless to do anything about it except with God & through God! Which is why Romans 10:9-10 is so important!

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

Have you ever known anyone else to make such sacrifices in their life???

Hello. Let me share some TRUTH with you! The crucifixion was a major sacrifice of vast proportions. Jesus' sacrifice is was costly, it cost Him His life blood and to be hung upon a cross in public view before the world, heaven and hell itself! Just for Jesus to come to save unholy, sinful, and unregenerate fallen humanity (who can by absolutely NO means whatsoever safe itself) required Him stripping Himself of ALL the rights as being the SON OF GOD. He stripped Himself of that glory which was upon Him, and upon taking on human flesh... He would no longer be pure spirit like the Father and the Holy Spirit. He would subject Himself to clothed in flesh and born through the womb of a virgin woman to be the Savior of all mankind. He took on the form of a servant and was wrapped in SWADDLING clothes... I mean really... a KING wrapped in swaddling clothes and placed in a manger now! The life He lead here on earth was under the same weaknesses and frailties as others only without sin. Satan tried to keep Him from coming in, yet God would prevail. He was subject to his parents and others over him as would any other child, and He lived His entire life free from sin. He was despised, rejected by His own countrymen, and they called Him things wholly unseemly for Him who is their maker and king. What made the sacrifice of Jesus work in pleasing the Father's wrath and demands for justice was His perfect sinlessness. That is the thing which makes Him and Him only the ONLY suitable candidate to please the Father's plea for justice for sin committed. Jesus sacrificed His life and will to do the will of the Father... 100%! When Jesus cried aloud and gave up the ghost, He decended into hell. For three days and three nights He went through actual combat with the devil, but after the time He would be raised to life by the glory of the Father. He was so marred that His countenance was not as it was. Jesus' dying on the cross is THE single reason why you, I and all humanity is not in hell altogether right now! You say you would'nt have been born though... ah but you may not know that "In Adam all die"... consequently without His sacrifice all would've went to hell in Adam. Simple as that. So His crucifixion was the HIGHEST and greatest of all since He is the ONLY one to rise from the dead never to die again. No other religion has the TRUTH about a God who became FLESH, dwelt among man, and took upon Him the SIN (and SINS) of the WHOLE world. The sacrifice of Jesus satisfied a just God who demanded the penalty of sin to be paid for in full. Now every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is LORD to the glory of God the Father. I mean EVERYONE... satan, Buddha, Muhammed, and Mary the Mother of Jesus also. She will do it with joy. He is Risen indeed... do you see your need for a Savior?

The big deal is that He did it because He wanted to spend eternity with you. The question is, do you want to spend eternity with someone who was willing to give up the magnificence of heaven to come to earth and go through the unbelievable agony of crucifixion to make the way for you?

Your choice.
