For your body mass index (BMI) to be within the normal range, your weight should not be over 185 lbs. More than that would make you overweight, and at 227 lbs, you fall under class 1 obese classification.

Note that BMI may not accurately reflect fatness in people. Very muscular people would fall into the "overweight" category when they are in fact healthy and fit. Another way to determine your fitness is through the waist circumference obesity chart, which allows you to locate your body fat distribution - this is basically saying your fat shouldn't be concentrating mainly around your waist.

If you are a man... 5 foot would be 106lbs and 6lbs for each inch over. Since you are 13 inches over 5 foot, 13*6=78lbs + 106 = 184 lbs. Give or take 10 lbs for frame differences. You should probably be between 184 and 194lbs. If you are a woman, it is 5'0" would be 100 + 5lbs for every inch over so 13*5= 65 + 100 = 165 lbs to 175 lbs. I assume you are a man bc I don't know many women over 6'

total bodyweight is irrelevant in terms of health, the body fat percentage is what matters. at whatever weight you are a lower than average body fat should be the goal. personally for a man to look athletic and muscular and not scrawny. at 6'1 the total bodyweight should be near 185 lbs with the body fat around 10-12%
