I think we focus too much on God's mercy, and i honestly believe he's an almighty god who we should fear and love. I just think god is going to hold us more accountable for our life than we think, anyone have anything to add to this?

The focus from fearing God to viewing Him as being all merciful has changed over the years. The universal teaching used to be we should fear God always because we are sinners to our core. With that said, I believe a large portion of us, who believe in God, worry not so much about living our lives in an honest, do unto others as you would have done unto you, lifestyle but rather in a get out of jail free card way. We've been conditioned to believe that God will forgive us because He loves us, and rightfully so. However, that doesn't give us the right to run through life doing whatever we please, knowing that when we feel like we can say were sorry and all will be forgiven. Free will isn't a blank check. Judgement day will come and we will have to answer for all of our bad judgement and mistakes. Who do we think we're kidding? We're only fooling ourselves. Try to live life in the best possible manner, with only a few stumbles along the way. Instead of stumble after stumble never learning and applying to our own lives the lessons which make us better people.

"For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that everyone may receive the things done in his body, according to what he hath done whether it be good or bad" II Corinthians 5:10.

Here are some clear facts from the Bible about the judgement: Fact No. 1: Man must give account of himself on the day of judgement. (Matthew 12:36; Romans 14:10,12). Fact No. 2: All of us shall appear at the judgment. (Acts 17:31; II Corinthians 5:10) Fact No. 3: We're to be judged by how we measure up to the word of God. (John 12:48; Revelation 20:11-13) Fact No. 4: We need to get ready for the judgement day. (II Corinthians 5:10; Matthew 12:36-41)

Last Judgment or Day of the Lord is the simultaneous judgment of every human, after the resurrection of the dead, before the Great White Throne by Jesus Christ to either eternal life or oblivion in the lake of fire at the end of time. Salvation is granted by Grace based on the individual's surrender and commitment to Jesus Christ

When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world...Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels...And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (Matt 25:31-34, 41, 46)

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. (Rev 20:11-12)

There are verses in the bible about how our works will be tried, and that we may suffer loss if our works don't withstand the test, but that we shall be saved. I think that a true Christian is more concerned with doing the Lord's will no matter whether there is reward in heaven or not, but the bottom line is that we will just be grateful to be in heaven with him. That's just how I feel and how others have told me they feel also.

It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of an angry God.
Jesus is the Author and finisher of our Faith.
God will Judge the living and the dead.
If Christ be for us ,who can be against us.
I have the wisdom go fear God.
But the knowledge that Jesus is my Savior.
Don't stand before God without Jesus<><

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error4 which was meet.
Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do4 those things which are not convenient;
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do4 them

You will be held accountable for every word, thought, and deed you do in your life. EVERY SINGLE ONE. The good news is, so long as you accept Him before you die and before His coming, you are saved and added to the kingdom, all those judgements can be passed over because you are accepted. You choose to accept or not.

Yes, we should fear God.

There will be one day when there is no more mercy.

We have to be cleansed with the blood of Christ to stand before the throne of God.

We have to have Jesus at our side to defend us.

Those who do not have Christ, will stand before God alone, and explain what they did in their life

Yes, He expects us to do good. Paul tells how to become a Christian, and James goes more into detail about what is expected from us. : )
