Why don't I hear of Creationists doing everything they can to restore it to it's divine state?

I know there is a Christian group that are environmentalists, but you would think that every Christian, especially Creationists would devote a significant part of their lives to green energy, preserving forrests and natural habitats, convincing people to go biodiesil, animal rights, etc.

I mean, the Bible says we are supposed to be stewerds of the land right? But it doesn't seem like most Creationists, who obviously take Genesis literally, take that part literally.

Do you understand the cruelty your industry cattle are treated with so that you can have a steak? You have the power to change that, especially with your numbers.

Do you realize that our "Christian" president has been trying his whole time in office to drill in the Alaskan Wildlife preserve, ruining habitats for gasoline?

Honestly, why aren't you better stewards of the land? The land, and the animals need you.

Lori, I'm 23, and stop trying to justify this cruelty against our planet by saying we have a right to selfishly harm these animals for our temporary comfort.

Well, if you've noticed the ones that are raping the land are mostly developers and corporations with more than tons of money. But we can make little strides. I am a Christian and I don't believe that anyone has done a good job of taking care of the earth. Where I live I am involved in trying to get developers to be more responsible by making it a law to have citizens vote if they want to change the land use. Right now, county and city politicians are in the pockets of the very rich developers who get to do whatever they want. If everyone would take small steps in their area, maybe we can make great changed and reverse some of what's been done.

As for cattle, more people than Christians eat meat.

As for drilling in Alaska, are you going to be the first one to give up your car? We have people screaming about being dependent on foreign oil, but when we try to drill our own, someone else screams about it. Where's the medium? Once you start trying to please everyone, you fail at everything.

I think God is more concerned about reaping in souls for Christ than He is us being a bunch of Christian tree-huggers. If you'll also recall in scripture, in Revelation, the earth will be no more, and we will be in New Jerusalem. That is the outcome for this planet. Don't believe me? Pick up the Bible and read it.

So what do you suppose I'm to do about "cruelty to cattle" ? Am I supposed to assault the local slaughterhouse? Unfortunately, to feed a massive population, there is going to be this kind of thing happening. I'm sorry for the animal, and I don't condone cruelty to anything. But these animals are raised for one purpose.......food. There are ways you can address these issues, and you can do them through your lawmakers. And to suggest that Christians don't care is quite an assumption on your part.

As for the Alaskan Preserve, the drilling in that region would have minimal impact on animal populations and habitat. They haven't drilled there yet, so what are you complaining about? I'm sure you put gas in your car this week, didn't you? It has to come from somewhere.

Are you a die-hard PETA member, or what?

If you make generalizations like that then there is no group of people that completely practices what they preach. I think Christians are most often singled out, though, because most people, like yourself, have a personal problem with Christianity and take it out on Christianity as a whole because you feel your bigotry is justified.

For the record, I live in a Craftsman style house that is powered by solar and wind, and I sell back extra energy to the local power company. I also drive as one of my vehicles a diesel pick-up (Ford F-250) which I have put an extra tank in the front of the bed that has a warmer, and in that tank goes used cooking oil from diners and McDonald's, so I burn hardly any fossil fuel between my home and my vehicles. The way it works, I start my truck on regular biodiesel, then when the tank w/ the veg. oil is warm, I flip a switch, and my truck runs on it; when I am going to park, I flip the switch back to reg. biodiesel and run the truck for a few minutes to clean out the oil so it won't clog the fuel system, and that's it.

My home is furnished with over 80% recycled/reclaimed furniture and appliances, most of the furniture I save from a landfill and repair and restore it or paint it.

I use no paper napkins or towels, I use cloth napkins and towels - much more environmentally friendly. My home uses a cistern to reclaim rainwater which I use to water my organic garden, from which I get most of my vegetables. I make my own soap, toothpaste, mouthwash, deodorant, and I blend regular laundry detergent with baking soda for a far more eco-friendly laundry detergent. I have little plastic waste because I don't buy too many things like toothpaste, mouthwash, etc. that come in plastic.

I am a devout, born-again Christian, a Creationist, and I have a BA in Philosophy and English from Rutgers and a MEd. from Columbia.

So much for your blanket statements about us "creationists". Maybe I should ask why is it that you anti-creationists always make inaccurate presumptions about us creationists???

Why do you anti-Creationists

I do believe that we are to be good stewards- but not to the point of worshipping the creation over the creator- the land iscursed - period- no matter what we do or don't do, the degeneration will continue until the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is not an excuse to trash things and be inconsiderate - we should be responsible for our actions. I don't however agree with all of the measures environmentalists take to "preserve the planet" or all the conclusions they come to. At the same time, many that claim to value and respect God's creation (whether they call it God's creation or not) have no difficulty with the concept of aborting babies. I will not value the planet over the sanctity of human life. It makes no sense to me to fight tooth and nail to make sure a whale does not die or some obscure creature in some remote forest does not lose it's home while the same time telling a woman she is perfectly okay in extinguishing the helpless life she has growing inside of her .

I'm a muslim but we were also taught to take care of the earth and even while doing wadhu (cleansing) at a river we should not use more water than we need. There was another verse in which we were also told to plant trees and if anyone ate from that tree it was as if we had given charity. There a lot of other teachings like this but I dont know many muslims who pay much attention to this or try to preserve the earth. Most people are too absorbed in their lives and sadly I cant say I have done anything to help either :(

I didn't say anything offensive. So I guess the voting down is because I am a muslim? sad.

What are you so worried about? It's all going to burn. The destruction of the earth this time will be by fire, remember? Enjoy it while it is still here instead of griping about everything.
Cattle? You are concerned about cruelty to cattle? Give me a break. That is the dumbest thing I ever heard. Worry about cruelty to people. Damned cattle. I guess you are one of those idiots that would pay 2,000.00 for chemotherapy on a pet, huh?

They are ANIMALS!!! We have dominion over them! We are supposed to eat them, that's why they are made out of meat! Get a life. I mean really !

Um I don't know if you're trying to be funny or not, but I'm going to answer it like its a sincere question
Yes taking care of land is good and fine, but our main goal in life is to use our skills and talents to tell people about Christ. Once we tell them about it, its up to God for the relationship to grow. So more than growing plants, we're helping to grow people. Genesis was after Adam and Eve sinned and one of their punishments was to cultivate the land. They had to provide their own food now. The most relative section of the Bible is the new testament, which is what separates Christianity from Judaism. Jews don't believe new testament claims that Jesus Christ is the Messiah. So ya I'm getting off topic but anyway..........

1. Allah (SWT) 'God' is only 'One', has no partner or son, and neither gives birth, nor is He born. He is eternally besought by all and has no beginning or end, and none is equal to Him (Holy Quran example)
2. He is the Merciful and the Compassionate, the Guardian and the True Guide, the Just and the Supreme Lord, the Creator and the Watchful, the First and the Last, the Knowing and the Wise, the Hearing, and the Aware, the Witness and the Glorious, the Able and ' the Powerful. (Holy Quran example).
3. He is the Loving and the Provider, the Generous and the Benevolent, the Rich and the Independent, the Forgiving and the Clement, the Patient and the Appreciative, the Unique and the Protector, the Judge and the Peace. (Holy Quran example). The question of Allah's (SWT) 'God' existence has preoccupied men's minds for many centuries. Those who believe in Allah (SWT) 'God' seem to agree that the limited finite human intelligence cannot prove the existence of the infinite boundless of Allah (SWT) 'God'. It can only illustrate or demonstrate his existence to the satisfaction of the curious human mind.
Those who deny Allah's (SWT) 'God' claim to rely on science, philosophy, or special theories of knowledge. Their arguments are sometimes inapplicable, sometimes irrelevant, always complex, and often incomprehensible. However, the developed mind will find its way to Allah (SWT) 'God'. Failure to find the way does not mean that there is no way. Denial of reality does not make it unreal.
