Been on track team for 9 weeks and got a 12:28 my first 2 mile (on 8 week in track). I'm in highschool track and am 14 years and born in september. I'm earlier than all of them but i'm fast and buff in abs and arms and...have a good form.

Depends on how hard you practice... im roughly the same age and dont practice too hard but got 11:58 my first 2 mile, some people have better body types for certain events. Im the slowest sprinter on my team but one of the top distance runners, so whatever time you get doesnt make you good or bad, it's just how you practice that matters. Good form may not be key to getting that time down, and muscle may not always help either. Main advice: good start for a 2-mile but practice a lot and it will go down. Shoot for sub-12 this year.

I also run the 2mile. If you are a freshman (so am i) then you should be a little faster than 12:08. Try getting like 11:50 for your next goal and shave time off after every meet if you get the time that you were shooting for. 12:08 is around my time and I'm a girl.

Sounds like you did a great job though for your 1st 2mile. Keep it up!

having nice arms is all well and good, but carrying overly muscled torso and arms with you while running actually slows you down.

If you want to set yourself up as a career track athlete, concentrate on your legs and lower torso. Not to say that you should ignore yout upper torso and arms, just concentrate on the lower half of your body.

it's a decent time. if you're in private school, the times you should be going for to win are around 9:50. But you're pretty young and there's a lot of room/time for improvement.
