However, I have problems with most churches. Alot of the people there seem judgemental and I've never really felt at home anywhere. I know that church is about worshipping God but its hard to focus on that when you're surrounded by people who are looking down on you or talking about you behind your back.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems, and how did you handle it?

I live in a small town and there's only a limited number of churches. Everyone knows everyone.

You are correct. Dont worry about the hypocrites. Focus on Gods word and you wont and cant go wrong. Christians are the most hypocritical people you will find. That is the thing Christian is a title. So many of those so called Christians havent what is needed that is a relationship with God. God knows your heart and He knows their hearts. If you cant find a church near you go find one out of town. This is the most important decision in life. Peace out...............

Yes! I went to church all my life though and then at about 17 i got pregant. Talk about an outcast- SO I got married and ended up going to my in-laws church- I expected the same thing. I was sure everyone would probably look at me weird b/c i was so young and having a baby. But.. THEY WEREN"T it was amazing. Everyone talked nicely I had no akward stares. And since then (it's been 6 years ago) I've found that anywhere you go you are gonna find the hypocrites and whatever else. But you've gotta keep in mind what life is all about- In the end we will all be in one of two places- don't let others ruin what you can have. If you're really sincere the Lord will show you a good church ask Him. I think it's amazing that you're inspired- HE did so much for us and still asks so little- I'm trying to meet Him in the Middle- Happy Resurrection Day!

Its a good thing that you want to renew your commitment with the Lord Jesus Christ. You shouldn't let anyone interfere with you trying to get right with GOD. I agree that you should find a church that's more friendly and not judgmental, but at the same time you need to stay focused on the very reason why you're at church. The reason they are looking down on you and talking about you behind your back is because THEIR hearts are not right and in deep need of prayer themselves. Look past those people hold your head up because, really you are better than them.
GOD bless you!

This is probably one of the worst things that could happen within a church.

People get that hypocritical attitude of "I'm better than you." and they totally forget the whole reason why Jesus came and died on the cross for them... the very thing they are remembering this Easter!! They forget that Jesus came to forgive the sins of everybody.. he worked with the poorest of the poor, the sickest of the sick, and the greediest of the greedy... and treated everybody with an equal amount of infinite love. Plus, he even told all Christians to do the same..

This situation has never happened to me, but my advice would be to find a church that is biblically-based, where they focus on following the attitude of service and love that Jesus taught rather than just making themselves feel good. Even if there aren't any solid churches like this really close to you, I would do whatever it takes to find one!

There is nothing more beneficial than being in a lively church focused on Jesus, and nothing more harmful than being in a hypocritical church, in my opinion.

well judgemental churches seem to always be a problem. I think a lot of churches falter at welcoming new people to their church because they prefer to have a closeness. I suggest that you try to find an open church or if not find a relative that can plug you in. Other than that it wil be hard.
