Some people report losing wieght on Lexapro because they sleep better, have more energy and feel like doing fun things again.

Fewer people report it makes them gain weight.

If you don't want to lost weight, make sure you increase your intake of calories.

I lost about 10-15 lbs on Lexapro. My guess was that I was more active and left my apartment. Before that, I spent all my time in bed crying or on the computer. Nothing wrong with losing weight on Lexapro since it effects everyone differently. I started to get a bit concerned when I started going below 120 lbs because I had lost my appetite completely for a week or two. I got it back but I'm still thinner than before the meds. I'm definitely WAY more active now than before. I've only been on it for about 5 months and I didn't notice the weight loss until last month when I was raised up to 30mgs/day.

in my handy-dandy pill book and because as a certified crazy person having tried just about every anti-depressant,anti-anxiety,anti-bipolar meds, even though i haven't tried Lexapro, the pill book says the usual affects: weight loss, weight gain, appetite loss, appetite increase.if they're working you may just be more active and eat less.take it from bad experience,if you feel the need to take your prescribed meds then take them no matter what and even if you start feeling better, stay on them..

when i started taking lexapro my appitite did diminish a bit. however most people are talking about the exact opposite with anti depressants. if you are losing to much weight then talk to your doctor and see what he/she says. however sometimes even with the same antidepressant you can react to it differently. if it is not a signifficant amount of weight then i wouldn't worry about it, but if it is alot then just talk to your doctor about it. hope this helps. good luck
