This compound question about fools, fanatics, doubt, certainty, and wisdom is completely valid, but I must respectfully point out it forgets, in the classic representational way, the more fundamental question --

What is wisdom?

Fools and fanatics may be what they are due to the same thorny non-representational modal logic that a sage struggles with, and intuitively senses to be impossible to master. So why continue trying?

Consider this also. In a dangerous setting, where doubters are not welcome and undesireable to the extent they are persecuted or executed, would "playing the fool" be preservative of wisdom? This question shows us the faultline in representational thought. Derivative qualities of being can be described in a way that will be satisfactory for the purposes of an audience ("re-presenting" by the image-maker, story-teller, speech-giver, ect.). And the gathering of an audience is a sufficient condition for the re-presentation; it is the gathering of minds, inherent in your question, that is productive of the both the image of truth held in common by minds and the direct ontological task recognized by the inquiring individual mind.

It is a very easy questions....Fools and fanatic are completely closed minded..They will argue points even when the know they are wrong....

The wise person is completely opened minded and understands they do not have all the answers...You can actually change a wise persons mind....

The fools and fanatics come out in the press so much, because they are so passionate about a subject..With this passion comes humor and disgust, which sells in the media...

Why the wise person is a more philosophical interview, which does not have the flash and controversy of the fool...

Because fools have yet to experience something like what theyre getting themselves into and fanatics are too obsessed with what theyre doing to realize the most likely outcome.Theyre determined. Wiser people are generally wise through experience. They know the possible/most likely outcome of things from previous experience. But dont let that get you down if youre trying to do teh impossible. Every now and then the fool beats the wise because theyre able to take one more step than the wise man could.

Fools and fanatics focus on narrow parameters fools because of mental ability, fanatics because of ideology. The wise are sometimes caught up in all the variables which render a decision difficult.

I'm not sure that's so. Perhaps you notice the loudness of extroverted fools. I am a quiet fool and doubt my every action, but I always make wrong choices anyway.
But, am I wise because I am aware I have the sagacity of a sack of hammers? Am I a fool for proceeding resolutely in spite of my valid misgivings, given inaction in most cases, equates to failure as well?
I suspect heroes are just fools who got lucky, and wise people, through fretting inaction, appear prudent as the passing of time opens up more options and murky issues clarify. If they run out of time or miss opportunities, however, then these wise people are suddenly fools.
Perhaps it's all timing and luck, and the surface bravado or otherwise stoic introspection is merely irrelevant, pretentious affectations, covering the frail egos of fools on all sides - but I'm probably wrong as usual. :)
As for fanatics, well, if they weren't certain that they were right they wouldn't be very fanatical then, would they?

Because the more you know the more you know you have to learn. You know there's an infinite universe out there and to assume you know everything and all of the answers with no other points of view is ridiculous and arrogant.

The wise man on the mountain didn't fall there. He learned a lot to get there, but once there, he saw the vastness and knew he had much more to learn.

I find that when faced with a situation, question, or whatever else... It isn't a simple black or white solution, or answer. There are so many varying factors, so coming to a definite conclusion is not that easy.
One can say that, If you reach a conclusion too fast without much thought and are not willing to hear other options, then you are being a fool.
In other words one should try to take a step back to see the bigger picture. Once you see the big picture you see all the colours instead of focusing on just two of the colours.
Then again... Neither black or white are actual colours.

I saw an article once that said if you have ever wondered if you are incompetent or unqualified for your job then you are not. And that is because you are intelligent and self aware enough to recognize a situation that is beyond you and you would not stay where you could not contribute or handle the workload.

The people that are incompetent are not aware of things beyond themself enough to notice what they are not able to do, what they do not contribute when others do. The thought of them being wrong is not a possibility in their world. They only focus on themselves and any problem that is around has to be someone else's fault and if they think something is so, it just is---no discussions allowed.

Because they "ARE FOOL, AND FANATICS".

People who are wise are really not full of doubts. They are wise enough to know that there is always more knowledge out there for them to acquire. And that is what makes them wise.

By searching for more knowledge does not mean that you have doubts, it means you are wise enough that you don't know it all.

My mother always said, "never be ashamed to ask a question even if you think it is a stupid one. Otherwise you will never learn.

I had a wise mother.

Fools are fools , there is nothing to add to that.
FANATICS.
If there is one thing that they are not ..it's being foolish.
They are most of the time very intelligent persons , thus making them extremely dangerous to society or individuals.
Though intelligent they can easily be manipulated by the rehersing of their megalomania and paranoia.
They think and strongly believe that they possess the monopoly of the truth and anyone who does not agree with their beliefs , are silly , narrow minded and are person of no visions and , to the point of view of the fanatic , must be "muzzled" in a way or another.( Murdered , Threatening Blackmailing ,etc etc.)
They are obviously very dangerous by their megalomania and selfpride.
Fortunately , concerning young fanatics , they have an inner need of public recognition of their beliefs .( self pride.)
I am saying " fortunately" because it is easier for Governments defence agencies , like the MI 6 for the UK and the National Security Agency ( NSA.) USA to keep an eye on them and on their " friends" .I will mention for example people exchanging ideas on yahoo 360 or my web or any sites open to forums and discussions..
To resume , fanatics are paranoid and megalomania people and as such cannot be reasoned.
WISE.
One example of wisdom.
If Christopher Columbus did not believe that Earth was Round rather than Flat , well , i leave it to your imagination !!!

A very good question
Thank You.
