About 6 months ago I ate some of that bad peanut butter and got very sick. I thought I got over it completely, but now whenever I try to enjoy roasted peanuts or a snack sized snickers candy, I find myself getting dizzy and vomitting as well as rashing.

Could this be a newly developed minor allergy?

I'm done with peanuts forever now, even though I love them. If it is not an allergy, it must just be flashbacks from that food sickness.

Vomiting and rashes could be signs of an allergy.

Peanut allergies (unfortunately) can be quite serious so I'd say it's best for you to avoid them from now on; often allergic responses to peanuts become more severe on each exposure.

If you don't start feeling sick at the sight or smell of peanuts, it doesn't sound likely to be a 'food phobia' caused by your earlier bad experience. I'd suggest seeing an allergist to try to confirm if you have a peanut allergy, because they are in many foods and avoidance is key.

No, the rashing is definitely a sign of allergy! I have had a tree nut allergy I KNEW (and tried to avoid)of for over 10 years, but always ate peanuts, and smoked foods. Now in the past two weeks, I've developed anaphalaytic symptoms after eating worcestershire sauce and making (not eating) peanut butter toast. I'd get to the doctor to reccomend you an allergist...you do NOT want to mess with this! My boys don't like living without peanut butter (very hard at lunchtime) but they are slowly getting used to it. Once you read the foods to avoid list, you'll see it is a life-changing experience (but hey, we are actually eating HEALTHIER now!)

Allergies develop at any time if life, not just to peanuts but to flour, fish, even milk. But adult developed allergies are not like the ones we have from birth. They come and go as mysteriously as they develop so just stay away from peanuts for a while. Your system will be able to handle them again one day.

This isn't a minor allergy. Peanuts are one of the most dangerous allergies and many people have them. I suggest you be very careful and read labels for peanut oil too. What you have had so far is the warning. My Sister died as a result of shell fish allergy. Even though she had the warning only once after eating crab meat, months later, she went into shock after eating 2 shrimp. These things are really dangerous and most people have no idea that they cause death.

Actually peanut allergies can develop at any time in life. That is why most grade schoolshave made peanut butter illegal, since some kids may never have it and suddenly develop it.
