My uncle is 90 y/o. I support him but he lives in El Salvador. He has a ss#. Can I claim him in my tax returns as a dependent?

If he's a US citizen, had less than $3,300 in gross income, and you provided more than half of his support you can claim him as a dependent.

In order to be claimed as a dependent, the person needs to pass the citizenship test. This test is met if the person is a citizen of the US or a resident of the US, Canada or Mexico.

No, you can only claim parents or children as dependents if they don't live with you. Since this is your uncle, he would have had to live in your household for more than half the year.
