If you haven't talked to a doctor about it then this is your first step! Have you been diagnosed by a doctor yet? Arthritis can be due to genetics, age, weight, previous injury, high level sports or illness. You can take pain relievers or anti inflammatory to minimize the pain and swelling. You can choose to do cortisone injections but I wouldn't recommend it personally. Rest is probably your one of the best things you can do along with exercising. Rest and Exercise will reduce pain, your joints will become flexible and your muscles will become stronger (which ever joints hurt, throughout the day or when exercising...try using a brace/special shoes/etc to protect the joints). Heat can increase flexibility in the joint and cold (ice, ointments, etc) relieve the inflammation. Try to maintain a healthy body weight and always eat healthy! I cannot stress this enough, when you carry extra weight, it places pressure on your joints which will hurt you in the short and long run. Studies suggest that excersise does help to slow down arthritis. There are more and more medications and herbal remedies arriving daily. I am not an advocate of medication but they do help sometimes. (Never mix medications or herbs together w/out the approval of your doctor).Your doctor will further help suggest your plan of attack.

If you drink any type of sodas or beer from cans stop immediately. Do not use any canned food. the aluminum leeches out of the cans and goes into your body. This is why people start with arthritic symptoms at such an early age. I have had many patients stop using canned products and they found the pain diminishing.
Give this a try and I think you will see a tremendous difference after one month. Start drinking purified water as much as you can every day.
If you have any further questions please let me know,

All the advise voiced earlier is great. Also using glucosamine and chondroitin is beneficial to your joints as long as you are not allergic to them. Nice warm water exercise to take the weight off your joints would help.
All under your doctors supervision for this one of course.

You need to see a doctor to see exactly what you do have.
Other diseases cause joint pain as well as some medications, may not be arthritis.
