I have two outside sometimes inside cats I have had one for 4 years and the other for a little over a year. They are both male, the older one has always been a little bit aggressive but recently he will not let the younger one come home. I have seen the older one chase the younger one up a tree and fight him. This diden't start happening until recently. I have no idea why but wish it would stop what would randomly cause this? I thought it could have something to do with spring maybe?

Have they been neutered? That might fix a lot of the aggression problems right there.

Also, consider taking the younger cat for a check-up: I've seen cats drive sick ones out of their territory before.

I think its because they are both now at an age to be territorial...which is very natural. The older one is probably letting the younger one know that he is the king of the place. It would be best to get them both neutered. That way the fighting will stop and then also the little ladies in the neighborhood will not get pregnant. But I think that is probably all it is. They have just grown up. Neutering is the answer! :) Good luck!!

First of all, are both neutered? Intact males display that kind of behavior more than neutered males. If they are not yet "fixed," then you ought to have it done and that will help calm them down. Second, you are right ablout springtime shananigans - enen in cats that have been desexed. I have a milder form of the "problem" with my two neutered males. One is 9 yrs old and the other is just over a year old. The older cat has been establishing his dominance of the youner one a little more recently. But when they get too roudy, I alwasy step in to break the rumble up. YOU have to step in and establish with both your cats that YOU are the alpha cat around your house.

The older old is jealous and a bully, put him in a separate room and let the younger feel safe in your home.

My cat attacks you after you have been petting him for a while, when he gets tired he bites you. He also whops the dog too, sending him screaming away.
I would say offer the domineering cat some affection when he is inside.

Have them both neutered and that will solve more than just this problem!
