Christians might think of these things as negatives, but Jews consider them an honor and a pleasure.

When you "sign on" to become a member of the Jewish community (chosen people) you will assume many obligations with no special rewards. We are bound by more than 200 Commandments such as keeping the Sabbath holy, putting a mezzuza on your doors and on your gates, honoring your parents, visiting the sick, etc. etc. and if you are a male, you must be circumcized.

You are welcome to participate in all Jewish activities without converting. You won't get any special place in the afterlife by converting.

There is much to learn in Judaism. I would suggest that you contact a Reform rabbi and ask him to recommend books to read and what activities are available for you to join. Conversion is not for everyone, but I guarantee you will love what you learn from our rabbis!

I am not Jewish. However, I do believe the bible in what it says in that they are the chosen people. BUT they have been HATED for thousands of years. So, you will have to deal with hatred on a scale that you might not imagine as of now. Then again, you need to talk with some real Jews and I'm not sure that all on Yahoo who portray themselves as Jews really are Jews.

There are no "negatives", but there will be changes, lots of them, not just in what you will be doing, but very likely what others will think of you. Just look at the morons in here that are already bemoaning your "loss of Jesus", and throwing stereotypes about Jews at you. You may find that people you thought were tolerant and decent friends (and family members) are not as tolerant as you thought they were.. Be prepared for a long and arduous trip..

Antisemitism. Everything else about being Jewish is privelige.

We get so many other commandments to make G-d happy, as L'Chaim said.

But if a list on yahoo answers is going to sway your decision either way, Judaism is not for you.

I'm not entirely sure, but I've heard that the conversion process was long and difficult. If you're a male, you either must get circumcised or if you're already circumcised, a moil must re-cut over the circumcision. That much was enough to keep me from converting, but I still think of myself more Jewish that Christian.

If you are really thinking of converting then hopefully a list either for or against on this site will not sway you. If it does it is probably better that you don't.

I don't know...maybe bigots who blame Jews for everything being wrong in the world? That goes for any religion though. There's always pros & cons and people who will hate you for what you choose to believe. Focus on the positive and don't worry about the rest. If you believe in something, who cares what others think?

Now that Jesus came, if you become Jewish there's no way to be forgiven of your sin. Animal sacrifices don't count anymore - Jesus is the only way to heaven.

I thought about being Jewish a while ago, and I REALLY thought about it, and Christianity made more sense than Judaism because it's not WHAT you eat, HOW you eat it... all that matters is love and faith, not ceremonies and rituals.

What you believe is the most important decision you'll ever make, make the right choice.

I know a big major one, you do not believe Jesus is the Messiah. You don't get to ask him to come into your life so you can go to heaven. YOu don't follow his steps. There are some jews that do invite Jesus into their lives and accept him as their savior and he died on the cross and resurrected.
