Kcal = Kilogram calorie = 4.184 Kilojoules
A kilocalorie is a unit of energy - it's 1 food Calorie, or 1,000 gram calories. (A Kcal is the energy necessary to raise the temperature of 1 kilogram of water by 1° Celsius whereas a gram calorie is the energy necessary to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1° Celsius).
So 167.2 kcals is equal to 167.2 food Calories... confused yet?
Well we conveniently measure food by the Calorie not by the kcal.... one food Calorie = 1kilocalorie.... Science still uses the gram calorie as a measure of energy but mostly it has been replaced by reference to Joules of energy. You have to look to the context to know what is meant... for example, if the context is food, then the term Calorie actually refers to a kilocalorie... not a gram calorie.

167.2 food Calories. Calories listed on food products are actually kilocalories, but are given the capital "C" at the beginning to distinguish between calories and Calories.... I guess "they" figure nobody wants to think of themselves consuming kilocalories. lol!
