If you truly believe in God, I would say that you should test the spirit.
1 John 4 says that we should not believe everything that was being put down on us. As Christians, we should test the spirits, which basically means (i think) that we should not just believe what the person is saying just because he/she use the "I heard from God or God showed me" statement.

I would accept that they saw it, without feeling I had to make a judgement on whether it was an objective fact or not. What difference would it make?
I would try to take more interest in the person's reaction to his experience. Are they depressed? On a dangerous emotional high? That is the part that I would feel would be my business to deal with, not judging what they felt they saw.
When I was a little kid I walked into my bedroom one night and before I could turn the light on I thought I saw a hand in midair in the middle of my room. Why did I think I saw that? I don't know! I didn't say anything to anyone at the time, but I was sure glad my Dad was in the house.
Our eyes can play tricks on us, our imagination too, or it could be something to do with our neurons, and then there is a very real spirit world.

As George Muller once said to seek the spirit without the word you are opening yourself up to strong delusion.
Miracles are real very real, but the counterfits are out there too, I have had experiences from God, and the enemy has given me the same experiences. Be very careful who you believe and check everything that is being done against the word of God. Preferably the KJV

It really depends on the character of the person.
God enabled Moses to perform miracles n the front of the people so that they would believe that the message he is about to give is indeed from God. : )

Who am I to judge the life and beliefs of others. I don't live a life of a saint so if someone says they heard god, maybe they did who knows. I would have no room to say different.

When ever GOD gave someone a miracle and a sign, he also established them and endorsed them with other signs for his followers to recognize
Someone saying they saw Jesus in their soup means nothing.
Someone saying they saw Jesus in their soup and then raiseing people from the dead, and displaying the properties outlined in the bible, does have my attention.

I believe that anything that YOU see/hear/experience from God is intended for YOU and anyone you are responsible for.. not for anyone else unless you are the Prophet (and I believe that the Prophet is Gordon B. Hinckley).
