I like this 11th commandment of yours. Why can't people mind their own business. As long as someone doesn't do harm to another, their preferences should be their own.

They like to say that's exactly what they're trying not to do, but we all know better. The thing they don't seem to grasp is, morality is subjective.
Like how the teen pregnancy rate is higher among middle-class Christian girls, how big of a drug and alcohol problem there is with middle-class Christian teens, (both of these particularly in the Midwest) how many serial killers (John Wayne Gacy and the BTK killer spring to mind) claim to be Christians and had strong ties to their churches... stuff like that. The problem with trying to legislate morality is simply this - if you take something away, the more people are going to want to do it. And the more laws they will break in order to do it. Freedom to do whatever we want/have to do is of paramount importance to this country. The Christian Right need to wake up and smell the coffee - if you try to take away too many rights and privileges, it won't be long before you find your own slipping away too.

I'm not exactly sure what fundies do but your points are interesting.
The first one for example. You mention consenting adults. Why do you say they have to be consenting? What business is it of yours if say a wife is not consenting? Do you impose your belief that spousal rape or wife abuse is wrong on society?
'What someone does with their own body'. I saw a picture once of an aborted fetus; one of the parts was clearly a penis. Was that the woman's body?
do you really think no one gets hurt when porn is made? Do you think that young men learn important truths about women from watching porn? Lots of feminists - not all, but lots - might disagree with you about that. 'or do whatever'. Good luck if it involves hurting a dog or cat, let alone a bald eagle - or are you against cruelty against animals? Even in 'the privacy of your own home'?
I've never met a real libertarian yet who didn't have some lines - if you are one please let us know!

"Seriously. Religious types can be so nosy!"
Sure,sometimes they are.
"Who cares weather or not two consenting adults have sex in the privacy of their own home, no matter what their gender is? They're not making you watch."
Except it's not just that...they want to make everyone agree with them that it's okay...and if you disagree with that practice you are silenced and called 'homophobic'.
"Who cares what someone else does with their own body? They're not forcing you to do it too"
I assume youa re talking about abortion. And yes,I care, because having an abortion means killing an innocent baby. You were a fetus once.I can't imagine you would have liked being killed in the womb.
"Who cares if someone wants to smoke pot, or watch porn, or do whatever, as long as no one is getting hurt?"
It's not against the law to look at pornography. And oppsition to marijuana isn't just from the religous, but also from the multitude of professionals who say that it is harmful to yourself.
"It's great if you stick to your "moral code" or whatever, but not everyone has the same code, and you shouldn't try and judge everyone based on yours."
Ooops, you are judgeing my moral code. How dare you.
My point is,it works both ways.
"Why do fundies feel the need to try and regulate other people's lives for them?"
Oh,okay then,we will just make everything legal:murder,theft,driving drunk,heroin,physical abuse,etc.After all,those laws are regulating other people's lives-and that's a no-no,according to you.

Something about "not your brother's keeper" springs to mind, but it wasn't ever carved on a stone tablet, and I guess it's a little to subtle and metaphorical for the fundies to grasp. What about Judge not, lest ye be judged, or finding a mote in thy brother's eye, or casting the first stone? Really, there are numerous instructions to MYOB in the New Testament. That's the one based on Jesus, which is supposed to replace the archaic eye-for-an-eye, vengeful-god, micro-managed stuff of Talmudic Law, and which Christians are theoretically supposed to follow, btw.
I think the part about "no one getting hurt" is noteworthy. You fundies who responded with some justification for imposing yourselves as their brothers' keepers seemed to miss this part. No, of course nobody thinks murder, rape, theft, or grievous bodily injury should be legal, because all of those things involve somebody else. Objecting to these things isn't about imposing our morals on the perpetrator, it's about standing up for the victim. When two people of the same sex want to get married, there is no victim. It really is none of your damn business, yet you condemn them and try to pass legislation to impose your morals on them. You do this because you are officious busybodies who utterly missed the point of everything Jesus stood for.

No. The New Commandment..which would have been 11th is " Love one another ".
I do not care about what people are doing with their free will if they do not harm others. But I cannot say that God accepts that kind of behavior.
I am not forcing my beliefs on anyone nor I am trying to regulate other people's lives for them.
God's word is the same for everyone. You have free will to accept that word or not. I try to love everyone and I let God be the judge because He is the rightful judge.: )

There is no 11th commandment and never will be
I care what two consenting adults to in the privacy in their own homes because I'm nosy.
I care what people do with their bodies, because I'm a caring person!
I care if someone wants to smoke pot, watch porn and do whatever, because I just do.
I am not a fundie but I like regulating what everyone does, because I am superior and should be consulted by everyone before they do anything!

you could have just wished that you are alone...
... so nobody else would care whatever it is that you do...
not minding your own business is not just being nosy... it's not always on the negative part.. look at the brighter side, having someone by your side, knowing that somebody cares would be good...
and hey, if you have your 11th commandment then God might as well repeal the 10... why? because God is not minding his own business..
such commandments were meant to meddle in ones own business... it is said that yo shall not kill, you shall not kill not just another person but you should not kill your own body as well.. killing your body is not just when you are lying lifeless there at your room..
you kill your body- slowly, when you smoke, when you do this and that... it may not affect others, but it does affect you...
would you still wait for others to be hurt before you even listen to your concerned "friends"...
but yeah, the 11th commandment would surely be in contradiction with all others...- We are God's business, he cares for us... that's why he made 10, not 11....

Unless you're Jewish, we dont follow the 10 Commandments anymore. Jesus came and fulfilled the law giving us only TWO commandments; LOVE GOD & LOVE THY NEIGHBOR. thats all.
Everything God expects from us falls under those two commandments.
As to why people dont mind their own business, that goes deeper than religion, thats upbringing. People are nosey and people love to judge others. its fun.
