In that case, 'Yahoo' will have to spend a hell lot of money and gather a team that could scrutinize each and every post. Instead Yahoo opted to leave it upto the users. The options of 'Thumbs-up' and Thumbs-down' have an impact on your points. The voting system has an impact on your points. The 'abuse reporting system' checks the explicity of the statements. Posting a question costs more points to prohibit users from posting stupid questions. Else you would have seen thousands of them. Once you delete an answers means you no longer value your answer, and your views are not being shared by other yahoo members. Hence as a punishment, 2 points are taken away.
All the best...

I see a lot of them... Even some that have no answer and then say... "Thanks for the 2 points" There has to be a better way. You would think that with enough thumbs down that you could make an answer become null and void. But with the wars that go on in the politics section between liberals and conservatives it wouldn't help much really. I do agree though that the current system isn't fair in awarding the same 2 points to those that answer questions and those that...well, just put something in the box for the 2 points.

absolutly
infact I think of it everytime i get on yahoo answers. Answereing a question is so much harder than asking one, and many times you would be writing 10 lines to give the person a good answer; and yet you get only 2 points and when you ask a question in which you only write two lines, you lose 5 points
is that messed up or what?
another thing, they should do something about the stupid comments some people make, like one time I asked a question about ear infection and two people answered with: Get a life!

No, I don't share your views, you propose a complicated system and want things so fair as to drive people nuts.
Reminds me of that old Bible story when a man hired some men to work in the morning and offered them something like $10 to work all day. At noon he hired more men to work for $10 to the end of the day as well. At 3 he hired more men and also gave them $10 to work till the end of the day. The men who were hired in the morning thought that wasn't fair. The man said why wasn't it fair? Didn't the morning workers think $10 was a fair price this morning? What changed?

Jeez, you think about it too much. For me, it's fun to read some of the questions that are asked. And, sometimes, a question doesn't deserve more than a one-line answer. I
wouldn't censor the questions too much. Then it ceases to be
a free-speech outlet and we don't need that to happen. You
have to walk through all the trash to get to the one good,
thoughtful question. It's worth it, because you can have some fun while you're at it, too.

I certainly do! I often put a lot of serious thought into a serious question and sincerely believe that 'buddies' are rating as 'good answer' any brief blip to help each other get points. It is definitely an unfair system.

No, I don't really share your views. I'm here to learn, share what I know, and most importantly have fun (especially when I get to laugh.) Points really aren't a big deal to me...
Unless there is some type of monetary reward attached, but I doubt that....

Sometimes a question only requires a single sentence.
Do you really think it's worth it to employ people solely to check questions here?
Life isn't fair, this site isn't fair, stop getting so bent out of shape over nothing.
