I think that Santa Claus makes some Christians nervous because they realize, deep down, how their own god myth stacks up to it.

He existed... but he is dead. He burned up in the atmosphere like that space shuttle did. One can not ignore the laws of physics unless one is God. Santa was not God.

I don't think it's ironic at all, that's just how the church works. Everyone knows that only religious people can believe in things with no proof.... ;)
