1/4 cup warm water
1 tablespoon (soupspoon) baker's yeast (or 1 packet)
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup soft butter
1 beaten egg
3 1/4 cups flour

Allow yeast to dissolve in warm water for 10 minutes. Add egg, sugar and milk, then remaining ingredients. Make the dough in the same way that you would make bread, kneading until well blended and elastic. Roll into a ball. Place in buttered bowl, rub a bit of butter on the top as well to keep dough from drying out. Leave covered at room temperature until double in size (at least an hour). Punch dough down and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1 1/4 centimetre thickness (1/2 inch). Cut large circles with the rim of a drinking glass (if you don't have a donut cutter) and cut out each center with a small round cover of some kind (coke bottle cover, salt shaker cover, etc.). Place cut out donuts on a greased surface. Allow to rise for another hour. Heat oil to a medium-high temperature. Fry donuts about 2-3 minutes each turning once. The small cutouts are fried the same way.

While the donuts are still warm drizzle with sugar glaze.
Sugar Glaze:
2 cups icing sugar (confectioner's sugar)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup of milk
Blended together until all sugar is dissolved.

Glazed Yeast Donuts

INGREDIENTS:

3/4 cup scalded milk

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 (.25 ounce) envelope active dry yeast

1/4 cup warm water

4 cups sifted all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg (optional)

1/3 cup butter or margarine

2 eggs, beaten

oil for deep frying

2 cups confectioners' sugar

6 tablespoons milk

DIRECTIONS:

In a medium bowl, stir together the scalded milk, sugar, and salt. Set aside to cool until tepid. If using nutmeg, stir it into the flour, and add 2 cups of the mixture to the milk, and beat until well blended.

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water. Stir into the milk and flour mixture, then mix in the butter and eggs. Mix in the remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time. When dough is firm enough, turn it out onto a floured surface, and knead for 3 to 4 minutes. Place into an oiled bowl, cover and allow dough to rise until doubled in bulk. This should take 30 to 45 minutes.

On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/2 inch in thickness. Cut into circles using a donut cutter, or round cutter. Set aside to rise for 30 to 40 minutes, or until light.

Heat one inch of oil in a deep heavy frying pan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Fry donuts a few at a time. Cook on each side until golden brown, then remove to drain on paper towels. Glaze while warm, or just sprinkle with sugar.

To make the glaze, stir together the confectioners' sugar and 6 tablespoons milk until smooth. Dip warm donuts into glaze, and set aside to cool. Makes 24 servings.

get biscuit dough, like she said, the pilsbury kind, and either put them in a deep fryer, or if you dont have one, get a pot and fill it with hot oil. get the biscuit dough and make sure (if not using a deep fryer) to make the doughnuts very thin and small, otherwise the outside will get black and the inside will be pure dough. after you have flipped it over and it looks done, take it out and set it on a plate. let it cool for about 2 minutes, then dip it in powdered sugar, or if you want, even homeade sugar glaze. or, you could also use cinnamon sugar, but i have found that homeade sugar glaze and powdered sugar are the best. good luck!!!
