You could check with your local physician or mental health professional for more information.

I found this website:

I have had panic attacks off and on for 10 years now. The best thing to do is to go to the DR and at least get some meds to help with the anxiety and rule out any real physical causes. For instance, thyroid problems can manifest themselves as panic/anxiety disorders.

Good luck!

making a list of people who want to join a support group. As this group will be getting under way in a couple of months or sooner! a little bit about myself: I have been a sufferer of anxiety/social phobia for about 30 years, and would like to hear other people's stories and how they cope with every day issues. weather it be loss of a job, friends, or family. anything you want to discuss. A lot of people dont understand anxiety, only the ones that are truly suffering from this condition. If this sounds like something you be interested in, give me a call. i am on craigslist

Panic attacks: Breathe in to the count of 8, hold to the count of 4, exhale to the count of 8. Learn the method at http://deeplyrelax.com Some people breathe into a paper bag for 10 - 15 seconds, but this may not suit all circumstances, like driving, or in meetings, so have a backup method you know: try them all; use the one which works best. Some recommend nettle tea, with honey, but no milk, which can be cooled and carried in a water bottle. Anxiety: No medications for colds, illicit drugs, caffeine products (coffee, Excedrin, tea, chocolate, cocoa, Pepsi, Coke, Red Bull, or Mountain Dew - read labels!). Decaffeinated Pepsi, Coke, Ecco, Caro and carob based chocolate substitutes are OK. Take Valerian root, or drink chamomile or seven blossoms tea. Practice for 15 - 20 mins daily, the mindfulness breathing method at http://www.dbtselfhelp.com/ or gaze at a burning candle in a quiet, darkened room for 20 mins, and when thoughts intrude, gently redirect attention to the process. I would just go to my doctor and have them prescribe a medication called xanax,(alprzolum) It is taken as needed and not all the time. It stops anxiety in minutes.Plus just having it stops anxiety from coming. It saved my life. I have had it with me for 15 years now, and take it rarely, but I know it is there . I would be dead if I never found xanax. you can get .25mg or .5, one dose is .25 but it is cheaper if you buy the .5 and break them in half The support groups never helped me one bit. I got more anxious having to go be around other people freakin out.
