Good question but who really knows? I'm afraid after last nights annoucement of Minotauro being signed to the UFc that they'll refer to him only as "Minotauro" Nogueira and not by his full name, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

I think its because everybody knows him like that since his days at pride plus, he used to be a cop, so it actually sounds cool cro-cop (Croatian cop)

Most people know him as Cro Cop. It's easier to say and easier to remember.

I always thought it was due to Buffer not being able to announce properly with his voice :) . Also, I don't think they announced his last name in Pride, either.
