Your family cannot diagnose you with bipolar. If you feel you may have it talk to your family and see a mental health professional (counselor, psychiatrist, psychologist, etc). Good luck!

there are a lot of websites dealing with bipolar disorder.
i do have it, yes.
it's a mood disorder, and people who suffer with bipolar disorder can feel depressed (this is one of the main symptoms) or manic (feeling really good, as if you can do anything, getting a lot accomplished, or even somewhat agitated). Another common symptom is anxiety.
Mania can be present once or twice in a life time, or even once or more a month, and lasting 1 day to a month or more. it depends upon the person....
Depression can be the same in duration and severity. Every individual is quite different.
People with bipolar disorder do go through normal periods, also.
Bipolar disorder is manageable through therapy and medication...
Do a web search on bipolar disorder... you will find a lot of information.
If you have bipolar disorder, you will probably know just by reading... and if you have questions about your parents discussing the illness, perhaps you need to ask them what they were talking about? Please don't be afraid to talk with your parents about life. It's important that you communicate.
take care of YOU.. hugz
p.s. bipolar disorder isn't the end of the world....

It's a medical disorder that is basically based on your brain chemicals -- it just means they are a little wonky and don't recieve things as well. It's not really anything THEY have done in parenting or anything of the sorts (though sometimes it contributes to it). It's like any other medical disorder out there -- like diabetes. It's hard work, and you'll always have it but it can be managed.
It's know mostly for mood changes... for instance, one week/month(s) you could be depressed; really sad, sometimes suicidal... then you snap out of it, and become really happy... all of a sudden you are doing a million things! You stay up all night and miss alot of sleep -- you'll obsses about school reports, or an extra curricular things (i'm guessing you are still in grade school).. sometimes, the "happy" times, just means you do a lot and can become really irritable and angry.. but this is not as common. There are a lot for things, like cycling.. which basically talks about how fast or how far apart these "episodes" are. Full blow BP has psychosis -- where you see things or hear things. The more common form BP2, you don't get those at all.
Most people go on Lithium, but there are other medications. Lithium is just a salt! It's nothing to be ashamed of, and though it is a hard disorder to have... it can be managed for certain -- your parents won't be mad or upset. The most important thing is to talk to your doctor, if it sounds like you. But, it could be related to your periods (if girl) --- alot of girls just get super moody between their period and their ovulation time (15 days after)
Hope it helps doll!

If you are young you may be suffering with cronic depression. Only a psychiatris can diagnose you with the disorder. The best thing for you to do would be to talk to your family explain the problems you are having. Tell them you think you need help. If they don't agree, try talking with a counselor, a school counselor will help if you are still in school. Depression is not something to be embarrassed about. Bi-Polor isn't either. They are both treatable. and should be dealt with asap. Good luck:) Take care

IF you have a bipolar disorder, it is a chemical imbalance. It can be controlled with prescription medication and the person can live a normal life.
Do you have extreme mood swings from crying/depression to anger and outbursts?
Go to www.webmd.com and read about the disorder.
Either way, it is OK to talk with your family about the problem. It is a medical condition and treatable. Having a bipolar disorder is nothing to be ashamed about.

If something was wrong you would undoubtedly know about it before they would...this becomes an issue between you and your doctor. And you have a right to your privacy, too.
