Because they choose to not go to school, and rewrite history with ignorance. Those claims are an insult to Native Americans.
Aztlan never existed.
Aztec and Mayan civilizations were built on land that is now called Mexico. The southwestern states of the United States of America were inhabited by many Native American tribes for thousands of years.
The First Nation tribes of Canada, the Native Mexican tribes (Aztec, Mayan etc.) and mestizos (Mexican Latinos) are not "Native Americans". Native American is a politically correct term created by the U.S. Government, for the members of federally recognized tribes that are indigenous to the United States of America---not the United States of Mexico or Canada. It is not a term to reference all indigenous people of the North, Central, and South American continents.
Spain stole the land from the southwest Native American tribes. Then Spain gave their stolen land (the southwest US) to their mestizo Mexican children. The mestizos warred with the Native American tribes (and lost many times), and the British colonists who were squatting in Texas to retain the land. The mestizos lost the war with the British colonists, and sold the land to them.
When mestizos make claims about "owning" the southwestern United States, they are speaking on behalf of their dead Spanish colonialist fathers. There were no mestizos or Native Mexicans in the southwest United States, until the Spanish arrived.

There are some people who believe that and others who do not. Please do not generalize!
I think that most people who finished grammar school know about the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The reason some people say that the US stole the Southwest from Mexico is because, I think, they believe those 15 million dollars paid to Mexico were nothing compared to what the Southwest was actually worth. Whether that's true or not is a whole different story. To debate about it is useless, the past is past and no one can do anything to change it. One more thing though, believing that has NOTHING to do with a person's legal status.

Many including Abraham Lincoln believed that the Mexican-American War was started illegally...
Many Mexicans believe (although I have not done much research on the matter) that Santa Ana sold the lands to the US illegally...
Also, there were many mexicans that lived in those parts of the territory. Some owned land there, which according to the treaty, they were supposed to keep. They were also supposed to be allowed to be US citizens... But the US did not honor that part of the treaty.

The Mexicans use any reason or any excuse to justify their illegals being here, whatever sounds good they go with it and they become very radical, insulting Americans, wanting to dwell on events over 200 years old as if they just happened yesterday. It doesn't matter who found what , when and where the fact is we are a country , we must be a country, no other country is protesting us being here or demanding we all leave at once. It's all down to the pro amnesty agenda of ensuring that every Mexican who can sneak across that border with a sob story 99% they cannot confirm them, it's just whatever sounds good them .Siervoca…how can you compare real estate prices of today with 200 years ago. It seems once the Americana's built everything here, the Mexicans see everything with dollar signs. They have all that open land in Mexico that just sits vacant they are unable to develop it. They just look at everything with eyes of greed and me,me.me

Because usually that is what they've been taught since childhood, that the land is their right and should not have been "taken" from them.
The war began after the United States annexed Texas after Texas was a Repubic for 10 years. Some say the US provoked the Mexican Government, but regardless, they attacked the US first along Texas's southern border.

I say they should be happy we stole it (though I know thats not the case). Imagine if the southwestern U.S. belonged to Mexico right now, the only difference would be Mexico would have more land and more impoverished people and more dysfunctional government and less well paying jobs in the USA for their impoverished citizens to go after. Isnt it ironic? They just need someone to blame for their own countrys failure. And it is a failure believe me.

It's not just illegal mexican aliens. It is the rest of the world including Latin American, European, Asian, and African countries. Everyone knows that Uncle Sam forces other countries to do something they don't want and then call it "democracy." Do you really think that land was worth that crappy amount? Do you think Mexicans would've sold that land for that price? By using military power, your government obligated Mexico to sell it. That is also called STEALING.

They have been taught that America stole it instead of being taught that America BOUGHT it legally. Basically, Mexican illegal aliens are ignorant. They are taught about Aztlan and not taught the TRUTH!
