Okay...when I was little I had a whole in my ear drum, so I didn't get ear aches. I'd get infections, just not the ear aches that went along with it. Well, the hole's grown closed now. This is my FIRST ear ache ever. I don't know what to do. I can't go to the doctor until tomorrow, but the pain is so bad, it's making my throat hurt.

So...do any of you know anything I could do to make the pain go away? God, it hurts so bad...it's like...someone's hammering a nail in my head via ear drum.

One idea is to use your hair dryer and blow the warm air in the ear. Another is to go to pharmacy and get OTC ear wax remover, following directions, leaving in for 30 and then rinsing out.

BUT with your history I work recommend you either wait to see the doctor or go to an ER. It could be an infection in your throast or a middle ear infection, and no home remedy or OTC will cure that!!!

If the pain were that bad I would be go to an ER!

DO NOT PUT ANYTHING INTO YOUR EAR. If your in that much pain you may have a perforated ear drum. You need to be prescribed medication by a doctor. Using over the counter stuff is not going to help. My advise would be to go to the ER, if you cant wait until tomorrow.

If you are able to get some Garlic Oil Capsules, then prick it with a needle and squeeze some into the ear and then cover with a cotton ball. Should help with pain in about 15 minutes. Good luck!

I agree to head to the MD or call - they should help you tomorrow. Until then take three advil (I hope you are over 16 otherwise take two)
and rest. Sleep with your head elevated - at the four hour mark use tylenol and repeat the advil at 6 hours. That should help take the edge off pain.

Feel better - and call the MD first thing.
