i hate when people ask me that...i know that me dad is older then most parents that have kids my age...but what can i say to those ignorant people that say things like...why is your dad so old...or your dad looks old....what am i supposed to say....like i used to care about what they said but now i don't really care...but i'd still want to say something when they ask me that....my dad started his career before having children...this happens more then you would think. i used to avoid any time that i would have to go out to public with my dad..but now i don't care what people think..because it's their problem if they make fun of me not mine...ya but anyways what should i say..

I know what you are going through. My Mom and Dad are both old enough to be my Grandparents. They have a Granddaughter 5 years older than me.I got tired of people asking me if my Mom and Dad were my Grandparents. And why did I live with my Grandparents.I just learned to blow them off. They aren't worth the effort. It got to the point that if the person was really persistent about it.I would ask them if I really needed to justify their dumb a** question with an answer. It usually shut them up.My other thing I used to say.Was when they asked about my Mom or Dad.I would tell them.I will tell you why I live with my Grandparents if you tell my why you are such an idiot.

say : "he's my grandpa, SHUT UP he's got a bad knee"

who cares it's not like they're saying you do. Your dad won't find out or anything. and + then you'll be cool w/ everybody.

Don't sweat it, I mean I have older parents too, I mean they aren't the oldest parents in my school or anything, but I'm like one of the few "little sisters" in my school. because like everybody else has younger siblings. Its no big deal that they say your dad is old, I mean it never bothered you before right? Its just because people are saying crap so just say crap back

Just tell them it's not that he looks old, he IS old...lol. No, really, don't say anything, if they aren't mature enough to realize that parents come in all races, ages, shapes and sizes and that it's impolite and inappropriate to ask questions like that they don't deserve an answer. Or better yet, tell them to MTOB (Mind Their Own Business).

1) "Because he is. Duhh!"

2) "He's suffered more than most parents."

3) "He listened to too much loud music as a teen and never uses sunscreen".

(2) is sort of true; if people suffer "x" times a year, on average, then a 40-year old will have suffered twice as much as a 20-year old.

Say because he's a mature, intelligent man that decided to have the means to raise a child before he had one. How can anyone argue with that?

Just tell them.... "I guess he just chose to have an established life before having kids.... " and then change the subject it's non of their business so there shouldn't be much detail given to them if they ask more things just tell them to ask your dad.

You could say "Don't you know that's a really rude thing to ask someone?" "I wouldn't ask you why your dad looks so weird!" Or just say "You didn't really just ask me that, did you?" then just look at them like they are complete idiots!

It's insensitive of your friends or acquantainces to commend things like what is your dad so old or looks old. The next time you're asked this question, ask them to ask your dad directly because you don't have an answer.

Just tell them the truth.....that he had you at an older age. What is so wrong with just being truthful? Who gives a crap what they think anyways.
