Are you claiming that every single one of these 1300 MDNG members will die? How do you know this? Amazing.
By the way you really should review your for grammatical accuracy. The way your second sentence is written indicates that what you call the insane "Surge" strategy has been on going over 4 years. Then in the last sentence of your first paragraph you suddenly change your prediction about 1300 MDNG members being sacrificed to be being placed at risk.
Which is it?
Hey...sorry to be such a pain in the *** but when I served in the military accuracy was important. Especially when it involved the safety of my men.

It makes great sense.
Both the surge and the replacement of the general in charge has started working. We keep finding more weapons caches in Iraq, and bombings have drop off quite a bit.
As for the war being "unwinnable", it will probably be unwinnable only if we can't convince Iran to stop arming the Militias. Would you rather we went into Iran, if doing so meant we could end the war?
As for the 1300 do you really care about their lives, or are you only tugging on heart strings because you are against the war in the first place, and want to get other people to question it? What about the 3,000 or so who have died already, do you want their deaths to be in vain? They will be if we pull out of Iraq before the Iraqis are ready to stand on their own!
Military personnel know the risks before they join the military! It's a commitment we seriously consider before we make our marks on those papers!
As for the "lies", you sir, are being either lied to or are lying yourself. Weapons of mass destruction were indeed found in Iraq, a fact glossed over by the major media. Most of Saddam's WMDs however may have ended up in Syria though.
The fact is, if the United States puts its hearts and minds to something we CAN do it! It's your defeatist attitude that will get people killed for nothing and would have our military run from a fight with our tails between our legs, right when we are starting to make some progress!
Get a grip on reality sir! Our men and women are over there fighting, and dying for a just cause! That an Iraqi citizenry can choose their own destiny, instead of having it dictated to them by radical Muslims that want to strike fear in them!
It is defeatists like you that inspire the Democrats to play with the funding of the American Armed Forces so that their medling will ultimately lead to quagmires and defeat!
Stop being so selfish and self centered!

As Salaam to you all, Firstly you are not sacrificing you life if you support those dear to you if they are sick and need your help. The way the question was raised gives the impression (wrongly) that you would sacrifice (die) for a relation and this would make it suicide. Would it be wrong to marry if your parents required your help, or could you with the help of Allah (SWT) do both. Of course you could and if your partner to be does not like it or objects, then they are not the right person for you. Sickness of a partner does not mean that you will leave them to remarry but there is nothing stopping you should they die and you have waited the correct length of time. Should your partner request that you should not remarry should they die young is unrealistic. Myself I would move Heaven and Earth to help anyone I could for the sake of Allah (SWT), even though my parents (dead) and family would come first should they require my assistance. Wa Salaam.

I would lay money on the fact that at least 50% of these young lives voted Bush into office. You reap what you sow... and even more, if you signed up for the National Guard, you'd better expect to be called to war. If you didn't want the job, you don't take it.. but DO NOT bellyache about it after the going gets rough. That's just.. dishonorable and undignified.

to answer your question ...no. Our troops should be HERE, being taught how to better protect our homeland...not Iraq. People are "terrorizing" our nation because our government is constantly interfering in forgein affairs that do not pertain to us. In return, it is our innocent people who pay the price...9/11. We are forcing a way of life (democracy) on a nation of people that are custom to living thier lives differently than us. What is worse is that our government isn't forcing democracy on these people out of the kindness of thier hearts...its to have thier foot in the door over there...to have access to oil. And they do it with no regards to "our" people...our troops are being killed and our nation is at risk for attacks. I completely support our troops...not the war. What i don't get is how we (the people) are allowing all this to happen. Bush was voted in by the people; Bush should be voted out by the people as well.

Hey Calkn...riddle me this..Our troops are fighting over there for a "just cause" how just of a cause is it when we are imposing our beliefs on other people? Were forcing democracy on a nation...no different than those so called radical Muslims you referred to are doing to those Iraqi citizens. Basically we are there saying...hey we are here to protect you as long as you follow our way of life etc.... Ya know, some people don't believe that globalzation is a good thing. We can't make everyone follow our living protocal and when they don't comply, threaten them with our armed forces. That's insane! We need to respect and allow Iraqs and anyone else that is non-American to retain thier culture and way of life instead of trying to Americanize everyone. We need to worry about what's going on in our own country and help those who call on us for help. We have allowed the title of being the "Hyperpower" nation go to our heads....and inturn have caused others to have ill feelings towards Americans by pushing our way of life on them. If we keep tarnishing our own reputation by BULLYING countries, its only a matter of time before we fall as a nation as EVERY empire of this world has done throughout history.

Make no mistake. Terrorists are at war with us. They will not stop till you are on a prayer rug facing east 5 times a day and your wife has to wear a tent. You either realize it and fight or live your life to placate them.
Freedom is not free.
