To think your neighbor is more inclined to murder people than you because he's Christian and you're atheist is beyond stupidity. But people on this board actually think that! I certainly want to defend atheism against narrow-minded fundamentals but attacking Christianity for the actions of others and for Mosaic Law (which Jesus taught was wrong) seems more than intellectually dishonest. You've got to look beyond the Bible to explain the Crusades, Inquisition, Reformation...any historian will say that.

It's well past time Christianity/Islam and many other religions were held accountable for their roles in some of the worst atrocities in history.

I have seen many job applications with Christian down for religious preference knowing good and well they have not accepted Jesus as their personal savior. They wouldn't know him if they had watched him die on the cross. What I am getting at is this: someone on here or several someones are thinking the people in prison were Christians when they went in, they became Christian after the fact. I guess they thought it sounded good to say for their cronies.

I would say because they have not committed their life to an atheistic belief (ie Humanism, secular society, etc.). Instead of just not believing in God, they believe in nothing what so ever. except for what they perceive as logic which is often presented in the most illogical manner.

I have known many Atheists in my life and most are really good intelligent people who would never behave this way, and like any race, creed, color, sex, or religion there are a few @#$%. But they have something to their lives other then just not believing in God.

Also I my question is why would you spend so much time and energy being hateful towards something you don;t think exists? I am not hateful towards unicorns. It is impossible to be since they don;t exist for me.

I used to be an atheist, but I didn't feel any desire to bash Christianity or to ridicule other people's beliefs. I too am dismayed by the sophomoric goings-on I see around here. I think the people who do this must in many cases be driven by a desire to feel superior.

Murder rates in the Bible belt are significantly higher than they are outside the Bible belt.

Murder rates in secular Europe are significantly lower than they are in the more religious US.

Christians are significantly over-represented in prisons and death row, while atheists are under-represented.

How is it stupid, immature, dogmatic or narcissistic to point this out?

I would have to say most of those "narcissistic religion bashers" aren't REALLY atheists. They are just teenage kids who equate atheism with "christian bashing"

If you are an atheist, you are the first one in this forum that I can honestly say I will treat with respect and honor. I won't ever try to "convert" you, but a majority of atheists in here could learn alot from you. An intellectually honest atheist. Imagine that. Peace and prosperity to you.

Most of them are just teenagers. If they weren't badgering serious users of this category with idiocies, they would be out spraying swastikas on synagogues or pentagrams on churches. A lot of them are also social washouts, isolates who use everything from Star Trek to Star Wars to Lord of the Rings to pop music as a kind of substitute religion. Either way, they are pretty pathetic.

The same way any valid viewpoint gets hijacked by retards. There are more stupid/willfully ignorant people than there are thinking, intelligent people. There are jackass Atheists and jackass Christians and jackass Subgenii and we just have to accept that.
