It would be fine but I wouldn't put 1/4 cup of onion powder. Put a little at a time until you are satisfied with the flavor. Adding small amounts will also help assure it dissolves and won't be gritty. You could also omit the onion. I find not everyone likes the flavor of onion and it's easy to please all if you leave it out.

I never use chopped onion in mine. Can't stand the texture. But as far as flavor goes use the onion powder, it will be fine.
I just made mine, I never mix or measure anything, nor follow a recipe.
I add miracle whip, garlic salt, pepper and mustard to taste, when it is the taste I want, I fill my eggs. I also make my filling in my food processor. Very easy.
Today I did try something new, instead of regular yellow mustard I used a bit of a horseradish mustard, very good!
I take these everywhere and never have any left and get compliments galore.

it would be fine... I usually grate my onion for deviled eggs or potato salad, rather than finely chop it. I'd just use about 1 tsp. of onion powder. (if you use onion salt, back down on the salt elsewhere in the recipe.)

Fresh onion would taste better, but you have to use powdered, go easy. Like dried herbs, powdered onion is more potent than fresh.
