I think the reason why people act that way is because they are jelous. What do you think? I absolutely hate it when people are that way, though.

I 100% agree with you on this one. Why people just can't be nice and smile and be agreeable? I try all the time. How much does it take to do that? I think the people that don't.. a lot of them are jealous so they become snotty but others I think are more self-centered. Those people act like it's below them to talk to you. They're the unfriendly obnoxious ones. Then to be fair I also think there are people who aren't trying to be unfriendly they are just insecure and are almost afraid to smile and be friendly. I feel sorry for those people because they spend their time worrying about what others would think. They can't appreciate life and their part in it.

I can think of a few reasons:
1. Yes, I agree - Jealousy: they prejudge you and think YOU will be snooty and unfriendly, so they unconsciously treat you that way.
2. They don't trust others. They try to avoid people or give short, blunt answers. To some people, this is rude and unfriendly behavior. Ever notice that some people are like this until they get to know you?
3. They want to be perceived as (or actually THINK they are) "better than you". It stems from being self defensive or can come from something as far back as their childhood where they were told they were better than everyone else.
It's tough to deal with these people sometimes, but I keep reminding myself that I treat others the way I would like to be treated.
8 times out of 10, when I show the other person I mean absolutely no harm, they will lower their guard a little bit.
The 9th Person will suddenly realize how wrong they were later...
and the 10th person will continue to be snotty and unfriendly until they find out what's causing them to act like this.

I think that what you perceive as snotty and unfriendly may actually be shyness or insecurity. Jealous people tend to be mean in different ways. Shy people can seem unfriendly because they put up a shell around themselves. If they seem aloof, people will leave them alone. It's not that they don't want to have friends, they're just scared to.
Please don't automatically assume the worst about people who are snotty and unfriendly. Maybe at least try to be friendly to them. You might just be surprised that they just didn't know how to make friends.

I have many things I think causes this rude behavior.
1. They think that they are too good for you.
2. They are jelous of you.
3. They have a problem with life or people at home/school.
4. Low self-confidence
5. Born/raised to be unfriendly.
6. Don't even realize they are like this.
7. People at school/home teach them these habits.

Don't worry about them. If they aren't within your immediate circle of association then it really doesn't matter what their opinion is. They don't rate in your life. You are correct in thinking that jealousy can often be a motivation for their crude manner but it could also be intimidation. That is they are intimidated by you or resent you for making them see themselves as inferior due to their own lack of productivity, success, and or happiness and so try to rob you of yours. Ignore them. They are projecting. Smile and greet them always. Why should you stoop to their level ever? Good Luck in all your endeavors.

It's normally their parents that were like that and that person who is snotty and unfriendly normally got a hard time from them, they ended up starting to be like their parents and they continue to do it. They may get it from their friends/family and if they see their parents or friends do it, they may do it because they think it's right and that those people, such as their friends, family will accept them if they act the same. Their parents/friends will normally be snotty and unfriendly people to.

Your details say a lot about you. You are arrogant and a bit*h, I think. You attract people to be snotty and unfriendly, as you come across as hateful and obnoxious yourself.
You can thank me politely for pointing that out to you and change your ways or continue to think it is the rest of the world that is wrong instead of looking inward and finding the REAL PROBLEM.
Have a wonderful day, dear.

I've come up with two likely answers.
A. The snot usually sees another person as being inferior to them and their standards,
or
B. The snot is insecure or shy and doesn't come off as being a genuinely nice person (which they just might be underneath the seemingly unfriendly layer) because they are so closed off to others.
Either way is unfortunate for them and those who they affect.

Jealousy is the reason 9 times outta 10. The odd time someone can be snotty because they truly loath the person. I believe this because right now there is someone out there that I have no reason to be jealous of (because I would NEVER treat my kids with disrespect and cut their hair against their wishes because their step mother (me) had the same haircut in highschool) and I'm not nice to her because I tell her the truth and I tell it to her like it is....and if it makes me angry and that makes me snotty...whatever. But then sometimes I make fun of, say, Christina Aguilera's hair....but really I'm jealeous she has a hair dresser that can do her hair so nicely, any way she wants, at her request.
That's my answer and I'm stickin' to it!

it is because they want to be better then every one else....
I am sure you are guilt of the same thing, it is in the human genes...
How many time, you walked by an homeless or poor person and think....I will never be that way. Instead of feeling sorry and think "I wish I cold help or make a small change in this person life".
Do some soul searching...you will see the light...
