God is a rewarder of those who are truly His children. Some have a misconception and think that true christians must be poor. God is a loving Father and He wants His children to be happy and content. Would you as a parent expect your children to live poorly, or do you help them to achieve success in their lives? Just as a loving earthly parent wants their children to have nice things, God wants all His children to have a happy, fulfilled life. Some TV evangelists are blessed by God because they spend all their time preaching His Word to the world. God may choose to reward their devotion to Him by expanding their wealth and the wealth of their ministries. These preachers travel much and have many business expenses, they need jets to take them to far away destinations, they need homes to live in when traveling, they need servants to look after their homes and personal belongings. There is much expense associated with a total commitment to preaching Gods Word to the ends of the earth. Without the funds to do this, their ministries would stay local and not be able to spread across the globe.
God chooses to bless some people with financial comfort, just as He chooses to bless some with a loving family, or great friends or their own small business, or simply some who live in mediocrity and have a close personal relationship with God Almighty. We are all blessed in one way or another and all blessings come from God to further His Kingdom.
Don't allow satan to defeat your faith because someone else has financial gain, rather, enjoy the blessings God gives to you, by opening your heart to Him and obeying His Word.
The Bible teaches us that God will bless those who Tithe.
This is a teaching with a promise from God. He says "Test Me in this" "See if I will fill your barns to overflowing"
God promises each one of us that He will bless us if we Tithe according to His Word. If someone obeys this teaching of God he/she deserves to reap the benefits God promises.
God makes this promise to "Everyone" believer or non-believer...Tithe and be blessed.
To teach that a believer must be poor is a contradiction of Gods Word. Proverbs 3:9-10 says:
"Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will overflow with new wine."
Proverbs 10:22 says: "The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and He adds no trouble to it."
Look up the word "abundance" in your Concordance, there are many other scriptures that speak of this.
Gods blessings for us are not just for our eternal destiny, they are for the here and now, to equip us to teach and spread His Holy Word throughout this world.
Other examples of God blessing His children can be seen by the wealth of king David and Solomon and Job.
Proverbs 11:18 says: "The wicked man earns deceptive wages, but he who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
Proverbs 16:3 says: "Commit to the Lord, whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."
Proverbs 19:17 " He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward him for what he has done.
Proverbs 21:21 " He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
God Bless You...Praise The Holy Lamb Of God.

My Pastor just gave a sermon on this about giving until it hurts. Not that he is rich. I think sometimes these TV evangelists take advantage of people especially the elderly. They did a story on this a few months ago about one TV evangelists that was doing this too. I am a Christian and I was not taught to do this.

I have no idea, I have never watched a tv evangelist. My church uses donated money to pay the mortgage and utility bills on the church building and to pay the utility bills of needy families all winter. Also to support missionaries and to pay the salaries of the church employees. I have seen the pastors house, I don't think he is getting rich lol.

You couldn't pay me enough to watch one of these con men. I'm christian and they make me ill. If I had to watch one my temper would flare and I'd end up having to buy a new tv after having thrown something through mine. Years ago, a friend of my grandma's, living on social security, was so convinced she wouldn't go to heaven if she didn't give everything she could to these charlatans that she was eating cat food. TV evangelists want us to hurt so they never have to.

emily: As a Christian, I do not agree with televangelists grinding people for $. Extravagant life-styles are not what Christians are to be catering to. Remember; there are those, who use God's name to milk or exploit others with. This does not validate that person as being a Christian or a representative of Jesus Christ. All through history - from the time of the early church forward, people have tried to manipulate the Holy Bible to suit their life-styles. These people are called "false Christians" - phonies. The bible plainly states, that a person cannot serve both, God and money ("mammon") - period !

TV Evangelists are liars and hypocrites. They have nothing to do with God. They have nothing to do with goodness. They are in an EXTREMELY lucrative business. They know there are thousands of suckers out there who will think that they're the cat's meow and send them lots and lots of money.

--It indeed does not matter how sincere they start out, when they go against the Christian admonition "You received free give free."--They loose their innocence!
--Making money on Christ's teachings is indeed against what Jesus taught and he indeed made clear to the religious leaders , who were making money off there Judaism. Please note:
(Luke 16:14-15) “14 Now the Pharisees, who were MONEY LOVERS(my caps) were listening to all these things, and they began to sneer at him. 15 Consequently he said to them: “YOU are those who declare yourselves righteous before men, but God knows YOUR hearts; because what is lofty among men is a disgusting thing in God’s sight.”
--There is no way one can be a genuine Christian and make money off of your Christian teaching!
(1 Timothy 6:9-10) “9 However, those who are determined to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and many senseless and hurtful desires, which plunge men into destruction and ruin. 10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.”
--NONE ARE INNOCENT of money loving!

I would write him a letter telling him that. No one IMO should preach to give till it hurts unless you are living by the same token. He shouldn't live like a king if he believes you should give. He should live moderately and humble if he believes what he preaches about god and giving
