Do you definitely want "salsa" because if you ae looking for an even better dip that is like salsa, try Pico De Gallo instead... it's basically salsa ingredients but doesn't contain as much liquid and tastes much more fresh. The basic ingredients are very finely chopped and include: tomatoes, white onion, and some variety of green chile pepper, you should add a bit of fresh lime juice and you can add a touch of cilantro if you like that. Actually Pico De Gallo is a salsa... just not as runny.

The recipe is basically to add equal parts of tomato and onion to one half part chile pepper and the other ingredients mentioned. It so much better than ordinary salsa, in my opinionm at least!

Good luck!

Damn Good Salsa!!:

This recipe came from a friend. I really like this salsa because it isn't too spicy, but also isn't bland. Just a really good recipe!!! TRY IT AND I GUARANTEE YOU"LL LOVE IT, TOO!!

1½ hours 30 min prep
2 Jars

8 cups tomatoes, chopped
4 cups green peppers, chopped
1 cup red peppers, chopped
1/2 cup jalapeno peppers, chopped (for spicy sauce) or other bell peppers
2 cups onions
4 garlic cloves
1 1/2 cups vinegar
1 (16 ounce) can tomato paste
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon oregano

1. Chop all ingredients to desired texture.
2. Place in pot. Add vinegar, paste, and spices.
3. Cook for 1 hour stirring often.
4. Add more paste for thicker and more jalepeno for spicier salsa.
5. Hope you like it!

Here is what is called Salsa Mexicana...easy, and delicous:
6 tomatoes diced
1 bunch of fresh cilantro (clean it in water with soap and rinse good before using) chopped
1 onion fine diced
2-3 fresh jalapeño (but take out the seeds and fine diced)
the juice of 1 lime
salt to taste.

Just mix the ingredients in a bowl and enjoy over whatever...best to make it right before you use it as the fresher the better.

Best Regards.

wow this is a loaded ? everyone has there own idea of what a good salsa is mine is very basic and heck it is just a list of ingredients really but here it is
2 or three Tomatoes (seed them if you want... cut them in half and give them a squeeze)
1 medium sized onion
a couple of jalapenos again to taste (take out the seeds and white stuff to make them milder)
a small can of tomato sauce
a couple of cloves of garlic
a squirt of lime juice
some cilantro to taste ( be careful here it is a strong herb)
salt and pepper to taste

chop and mix all of the ingredients together if you want to run them thru a food processor to make it all faster then go for it but it will result in a soupier salsa.. i prefer a chunky salsa myself......

a good salsa is really trial and error until you find out what you like this is just a starting point.... black beans are good and so is canned corn play around and see what you like.....
