Why on earth can't they share it. I live next door to Jewish people and up the street from Muslims...and I'm an Episcopalian. Thats why I get so angry....why is there enough religion to incite war and not enough to instill tolerance?

The Holy Land is the inheritance of the Abrahamic covenant. The Arabs have a strong case for the fact of Jewish law is that the inheritance goes to the first born, which in Abraham's case was Ishmael and not Issac. In fact Ishmael's birth right was stolen by Sarah for Issac. Also Issac's oldest son Easu was tricked out of his birthright when Jacob decieved Issac. So actually under Jewish law the decendants of Issac and Jacob are not the proper heirs to the covenant, indeed twice removed. Now there is the argument that the actual covenant was made with Moses in the Exodus but that was just a promise to lead them to the land. they had to conquest it and keep control of it themselves, as well as keeping the covenants> well the Jews were neither able to keep the covenants to live on the land or keep control of it. It was won by legitimate conquest.

There is also another theory that Jesus in coming created a new covenant breaking the old ones and it should be the Christians that have the Holy Land as inheritance of the new covenant.

Finally it was only promised that any of us would be led to it, having it requires winning it and maintaining it and the covenant for it.

Last legitimate victors were the Arabs.

God gave it to the Jewish people. He even set forth the boundaries. Those who try and split it apart will be cursed by God. Joel 3:2, 14 speaks to this very question you ask.
Gen 15:18; 17:2-8 speaks to whom God gives this land.
Gen 17:19-21 speaks of whom God excluded from this land
(Modern day Palestinians)
The boundaries of Israel are described in Num.34:2-15 and also in Joshua 11:16-23; 13:1-22
Also in Ezekiel 47:13-28
God is very clear on this point and those who say otherwise are in opposition to Gods Holy Word.
Read this scriptures for yourself, Ishmael (Father of the Arabs) was excluded from this land in Gen. 17:19-21
Therefore the palestinians have no Biblical mandate to own the land. This is what God says.
God Bless You....Peace.

Not long ago, I would have instantly said the Jews. However, recent years the attitude they've taken has left a bad taste in my mouth. I wonder if they would ever be satisfied with what they have.

I think I understand a little bit the mentality of some of the Jews. After all, they've been tormented hundreds of years by other races. They did have the land for awhile, but were conquered by other races, like the Romans, and eventually became wanderers, partly to save their own skins, which is understandable.

But now they seem to have become a little (or more) militaristic, maybe overly violent in dealing with their enemies. I understand that their fighting forces, like the special forces we have, are the best in the world, with evolving fighting tactics and their own martial art.

I just wish they would try to become a little more cooperative with their neighbors. The palestinians have always seemed bloodthirsty to me, but I don't remember anyone really trying to work with them. Or maybe they have, and there's just no hope.

That land is a part of all the 3 Abraham religions... so I think it should be shared. Bethlehem to the Arabs and Jerusalem to the Jews how's that?

Ideally, they should share. Of course, this will never happen because the Arabs have been there for hundreds of years and then the Jews come and kick them out and strip them of their rights because it is their "divine right" to be there. So to all those people who keep on blaming the Arabs, just bear in mind that it is the Jews (supported by fundamentalist Christian Evangelicals) who have been driven on by a religious ideal (so much for secularism). Wow, and people say that it's the Muslims who are the religious extremists, right?

Anyway, cutting to the point-- it should be there for people of all faiths and races to enjoy.

The boundaries of the State of Israel were granted by God to the Hebrews (through its patriarch Abraham) by a Royal Land Grant. (Genesis 12:7 &13:14ff)

This was confirmed in Leviticus 25:23, "The land must not be sold without reclaim because the land belongs to me, for you are foreigners and residents with me."

The Bible says it belongs to the Jews and that the land will always be fought over between the Jews and Arabs.

It has been the property of the Arabs for over 2,000 years. If possession is 9/10th of the law then it should be theirs. 3,000 years ago Ethiopia belonged to Egypt. Should Egypt now reclaim it? And what about the right of Rome to Europe?

I noticed something very sad and disturbing - everyone who quoted what the Bible says got a very low rating. Those who think they are being "fair" got a high score.

The land belongs to the patriarch fathers (Abraham, Isaac - not Ishmael- and Jacob) and their descendants - the Jews.

But the discord is not disturbing for it was foretold and all will be fulfilled as promised.

The land ultimately belongs to God, the people who inhabit the land by promise belong to God. and the Church has been grafted in by God.
