Are you kidding? Christians fighting back is surprising or you think it goes against the bible?

Look at Christian history - it alone has been the cause of more murder, slaughter, bloodshed, forced conversions, burning people alive, oppression, murdering of native peoples, raping of the land, and hatred than any other religion since history began recording religions.

And you're surprised that Christians "fight back"? Fighting back IS different if you take their whole history into consideration, as usually it was Christians who came in to lands far and wide and attacked peoples of other religions and faiths FIRST.

It's only been a supposedly "peaceful" religion since the past hundred years, if that. "Oh, but those weren't REAL Christians who did all that murder and slaughter" you'll hear Christians today say. Yes, it was. It was done by Christians EVERYWHERE for almost 2000 years as they sought to (and did) take control of every land, wipe out every indigenous peoples they could find, and convert or kill those who wouldn't.

Hmm.... sounds like the stated goal of Islam today, eh? They are just picking up where the Christians left off. Christians are so up in arms about that too, not wanting to be taken over and forced to submit to Islam. Guess karma is an interesting thing! Terrorists are terrorists, be they Christian or not, and for most of the past 2000 years, that's what Christians were.

So don't be surprised when they fight back today. Christianity was NEVER about pacifism, regardless of the lip service they give to the concept. That's all it's ever been, lip service, throughout their long, bloody history.

I can't think of any place in the New Testament which mentions fighting back. Fighting back is not a Christian attitude.

What do you mean by "a Christian special?"

Contrary to popular belief, it is NOT a sin to get angry. Even Jesus got angry and started flipping tables when he saw that there were thieves taking advantage of people who were there at the temple worshipping God.

It's some of the things that people sometimes do when they are angry that can be a sin. Like if someone hits you or calls you a name. But getting angry and telling someone that they are wrong for something that they said or did is perfectly alright.

See Matt. 21:12-13

mb: Being a "Christian" does not imply being weak - but "meek". Christians in our society serve in various capacities: police, fire-fighters (no pun intended), doctors, nurses, military service, etc. - all have to put up with some violence in their careers but do not have to stand by and allow others to inflict pain and death on them. Jesus Christ, for example, will return to this earth (in the not-too distant future), and will be armed with a sword - a sharp contrast in comparison with the way He conducted Himself while on earth, the first time as the meek and humble carpenter. After all; if you were in danger from someone and I was there - I would help you ! What kind of Christian would I be if I only stood around ?

Back to the ole atheist turn the other cheek staple. You are misinterpreting the saying. Christians are not 2nd class citizens.

"Turn the other cheek" refers to the response to physical force, not verbal abuse. If you respond to violence with violence, the violence will continue, Christians are called to stop the cycle of violence not perpetuate it. Christians should not repay an evil deed with another one, but do good in response to evil.

Jesus "fought back" against the trick questions and theological traps that the Pharisees used to try and discredit him and his ministry. He "fought back" against sin and won, all without ever resorting to violence or hatred.

I think that it is normal for anyone to stand up for what they believe in. This site does show a great deal of debate on Christian beliefs, but everyone has a right to their beliefs and to stand up for them... come on, don't tell me you don't enjoy the great debates?!!!

i know this is a leap, but if i'm making an error in my assumption, please forgive me (since the wording of your question leaves it wide open to interpretation), but i am assuming that you are talking about the verbal and written kind of 'fighting back?'...in that case, it would be a matter of perspective-from the Christian perspective, that is called 'boldly proclaiming the gospel of Christ', which is what all Christians are called to do

Do you mean "giving you an answer for the hope that lies within me ?"

If that's fighting, it's fighting against the enemy of my soul, and yes i will fight him as much as is required of me.
