There is no such thing as a double BROILER(unless it is a side by side broiler which is two not double but dual)
there is, however, is a double BOILER!
sounds alike but is not!!!!
the pan with the holes is the Broiler pan
broil things on the BROIL setting on the stove
you do this with anything that you would grill outside on the grill
same thing.... different places
the pan has to be on the top shelf of the oven and the oven door stays cracked during the broiling
hope this helps....I've seen this Q a lot on this site lately!
this is the way for brueshetta!

okay first a double broiler is a pot with a type of bowl that fits on top. The one with holes in it is the steamer.
How to use the double broiler: Fill the pot with water but don't let the water touch the bottom of the bowl that fits on the top. Heat the water and then cook or melt whatever needs to be done in the bowl part of the double broiler.
Hope this helps and good luck

Don't know wht a double broiler is but here's the defination of a
Double Boiler
Like a bain-marie, a double broiler is a method of cooking without using direct heat. It usually consists of two saucepans that fit together. The bottom sauce pan is filled with water and the top one with the mixture (custard, chocolate, etc.). The saucepans can be made from stainless steel, aluminum, and glass.

I think that you mean "double BOILER". Check the spelling.
A double boiler is a pan inside another pan. You put water in the bottom pan, and as it boils, it heats up whatever you have in the upper pan. It's used for boiling milk, so that you don't scorch it.
The strange looking pan in the oven is the "broiler" pan

do you mean a double BOILER? I use a double boiler for melting chocolate. I take a regular pot and put boil water in it, then set a metal bowl on top and put the chocolate in the metal bowl. Prevents the chocolate from burning since its not getting direct heat, only heat from the steam of the boiling water.
If you really meant double BROILER I have no idea what that is.

no, a double boiler is a pan, with another pan that sits in it, but not touching the bottem, you put water in the bottem pan, and what to cook or melt in the top, that way, what is in the top is not on direct heat,,,,, you also can use a pan,, on the stove eye,,,,,,, and any oven safe bowl or pan on top
ps: if you meant broiler, then yes, its that pan, that comes with a tray with holes in it, and often comes with a stove,,,,, you place what you are broiling on the tray with holes, so the grease drippings can fall into the lower pan
