Rather than take the cat back to the vet, make a phone call. Give a status report on the cat and see if the vet recommend you (and the cat) coming in for a test to make sure all the infection is gone or not. If you go in, you'll probably have to wait a long time to see the vet and it might cost you too whereas a phone call will communicate what you need to know, the vet will call you back when he/she gets the time (usually the same day or the day after), won't cost a thing and saves you time too (and your cat a lot of stress). Make sure you let the person who answers the phone know all your concerns so he or she can pass them all along for the vet to answer in one call. More than likely, the vet will say that if the cat seems recovered, isn't having trouble peeing, isn't passing blood, isn't scooting on his butt, etc., then the UTI is destroyed and you can carry on as usual but if you see any signs of infection again, get the cat back into the office asap. Glad your kitty is feeling better (and you no longer have to jam the pill down his throat).

If your cat was given a "course" of antibiotic and has finished the medication that is the end of it.
You should go to: http://www.littlebigcat.com and read Dr. Jean Hovfe's article "Urinary Tract Disorders in Cats" for tips on what you should do to prevent another urinary problem.

Call your vet and ask them if you need to come in. If you want you might just be able to bring in a urine sample that they can test for UTI. You would have to somehow catch it though, that is hard with a cat! I would just call your vet!

If all seems well there should be no reason for a further visit - my vet always tells when I need to make a follow- up appointment. If you think there might still be a problem then go back or phone him to ask.

Usually they give you enough antibiotic to kill the infection if you give all the medicine to the cat. If cat is making regular depostis to litter box and seems pain free, it looks ok. You can call vet if you're worried but I think you and kitty are all right.

Call your vet and ask, they won't charge you for a question about a prescription that they wrote. Your vet will let you know if you need a follow up

The cat is probably fine now. But for your own piece of mind, if YOU WANT TO, go back for a follow up visit. It wil make you feel better, but it's probably not neccessary. GOOD luck!

if your vet said nothing about a follow up then you should be fine. But it might be a good idea to have the urine checked again to make sure.

Usually your vet will tell you if they want you to come in for a recheck. So if they didn't tell you to return, I wouldn't worry about it. However, call your vet and ask them. It won't hurt to call and ask to make sure you didn't miss hearing that they wanted you to come in for a recheck. If not, there is nothing more for you to do.
