I'm almost 15, and I just noticed this bump about 3 months ago. It never hurts, and as far as I can tell it's not red or anything. It's on the back of my neck, a bit to the left. It's about the size of the eraser on the end of a pencil. You can't really see it; I only know it's there because I can feel it. Although it's fairly hard, I can move it around a little bit with my finger. My annual dr. appt will be by the middle of the year - I'm planning on asking about it then.

Is this something I should be this concerned about, or is it just me being paranoid? What are some of the things it could be, what's it most likely to be? I'm hoping it's nothing too serious - I want a little peace of mind.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Serious answers only, please. :)

I'm not exposed to second-hand smoke regularly.

It hasn't grown or shrunk since I first felt it a few months ago.

Its probably a ingrown hair or a swollen gland that i also have had for 6 years. The idiot who said it could be a tumor and do you smoke is a hypocondriac or something weird. You are only 15 so it could be hormonal. I wouldnt worry but show youe doc when u see him. I am sure its nothing life threatning. People are so unknowledgable and just say things to scare you even if it makes no sense so i wouldnt ask on this site. Relax u are young and i would bet on it u are just fine.

Waiting is not a bad decision. Cysts and carbuncles are the most common lesions of that region. They are both harmless. If the surface of the skin is not involved it is very unlikely that you have a developing cancer. If the lesion remains roughly the same size and fails to be painful the time taken up by waiting is nothing to concern yourself over.. Relax.

most likely a benign cyst, check around neck and chest area for any more...you most likely will not feel reassured until you have it checked, so move appt up sooner!!! Good luck

It is probably just a benign cyst or lump - but as with all irregular lumps your dr. needs to check it. If its not growing, bleeding or painful, its probably a simple cyst.

sounds like a cyst brudda. Basically a zit that never surfaces. I would definitely get it checked out though.

I would get that checked out now. It may very well be a tumor. Do you inhale second-hand smoke? This can be very serious and nobody wants to see you with tubes up your nose.
