My cat is abouy 7 months old and I HATE leaving her alone. I go to work and get my job done, but I come straight home. I try not to leave the house much on the weekends.....cuz I feel SO guilty leaving her alone. My husband and I are mostly homebodies anyway, but even tomorrow for Easter, we have to leave the house for most of the day and I am so dreading it. I think she is lonely and needs another kitten friend, but hubby says WE can't have two cats. Please guys I need help, I am ruining my life, at least my social life, but I love my kitty so much. Do you think she is that miserable all alone?

I understand you, I used to be like you XD. I wasn't ok even when I was at the supermarket. But don't worry, cats accustom to your squedulle, Your cat will be ok if you are not in home, she just will sleep or she will watch through the window untill you come home and then she will be happy to see you.
I didn't have a job when I had that cat, but sadenly I lost that cat and I got another cat, I got a job after that and then I bought another cat because I was in your situation.
Having 2 cats is a good idea but you have to share your love between both, is twice the time petting, twice the time playing, twice doing the litter, twice worry about illnes, twice hair around the house.... I love my 2 cats and I think the best I did was getting company to my other one, but if your husband doesn't let you don't worry, she will understand you will not be in the house during the day, just play with her for at lest half and hour and pet her and she will enjoy your company.

1) toss out husband and get another cat.\
2) get a grip. Cats have inner resources. Dogs come from wolves. Wolves live in packs. That's why dogs always need company. Almost all members of the cat family and all the small cats (genus felis) live alone their whole lives except for mating and raising kittens. To have two humans at her beck and meow is really a luxury for your cat. Frankly, she likes you alot, but she is probably wondering when you are going to go hunting or exploring on your own and leave her time for her own Cat Projects and Secret Stuff the Humans Don't Know About. You will sometimes find evidence of this under the bed.

don't make yourself feel guilty for leaving your kitten at home alone. She will be fine, she probably sleeps the whole time you are away. Absence makes the heart grow fonder when it comes to cats mostly. If it were a dog then yeah I wouldn't leave it home too long alone, but cats are very self sufficient with everything. If it bothers you I suggest another cat buddy, but she will be fine on her own if that cannot be an option. Cats are very independent animals to begin with.

When my family goes out, we always feel guilty about leaving our dog. When we go out, we try not to leave her home long but, we always leave on a few lights and music for her. She doesn't like being left alone, but at the end of the day, she's happy to be with us. Getting another cat isn't the way to go because then your cat will get less attention.

Well in a way yes you are ruining your life!
But you are one heck of a great person! Trust me the cat doesnt even really notice that you are gone as it sleeps tell you come home anyway.
There is no need for you to be rushing anymore , You are the best mom a kitty could ask for & it knows that trust me & go out & live your life !

Not crazy no, but you need to get a bit of perspective, for your own sake!

Cats are not like dogs. They don't GENERALLY crave human attention. Remember they are solitary creatures by nature, and so don't mind being left alone. Many cats will only tolerate a certain amount of attention before they take a swipe at you!

Sounds like you're more at one with dogs, who often don't like being left at home - I'm a cat person, and trust me, cats don't mind! Yes I'm sure she's very affectionate and loves being with you, but I've never met a cat who minds alone time. Try to calm down, having a kitty is supposed to be a happy thing, don't let yourself get all crazy about it, I'm sure you don't need to!

No need to worry. I have only one cat and he loves being at home alone so he can sleep on my bed. Of course he's glad to see me when I return, if you like open the curtains and/or blinds on a window she can look out of to give her a look of the outside if she's a house cat only. They like to watch the birds, etc. Even if she goes outside she would probably like to lay in the window to at least get some sun.No your not crazy, but at least you leave her inside while you are gone.My cat only goes outside while I'm at home so I can keep an eye on him.(Because of stray dogs roaming around).

Cats as a rule manage very well alone for awhile. However, if you are really worried, buy a couple of videos made just for cats and program the VCR to come on at a certain time to plaly it for your cat. They make really good ones now such as birds flying or fish swimming.

No, trust me I have had alot of cats....she sleeps the whole time you are gone...cat's have very small brains, even though they are very smart...Dogs would be more likely to have that trait..need a companion, but not a cat! Cats are very independent by nature...you are just like me...you're heart is big and that is what the real problem is, not your cat being alone!

If you provide her proper food and water and a clean litter box, no she is not miserable alone. Do you have a clue what cats can get up to when their people aren't around?? Wow-the are very inventive about the mischief they get into.
