Considering most wars are religious.

There'd be very few, largely because people would be more inclined to talk to each other without fear or suspicion.

Religion is certainly a powerful motivator, but you'll find that many wars also have an economic gain involved, and more most of human history, this gain was in the form of land. The Crusades are an example of the mixing of the two.

As for a world without religion… everything would be so radically different that it's hard to know whether there'd be "war" by our definition, or what sort of rationales people would use for them. There might very well be a form of bloodshed just as bad, or not as bad, or worse, taking its place. The mind boggles…

Pretty much the same, I'd think. Wars are not caused by religion, wars are mostly about resources. Religion is just an easy way to sell war to people. If it weren't for war, we'd have nationalism or language or some new excuse to kill our fellow human beings so that the kleptcrats could gather more power and wealth.

Most wars are religious? Not quite. Is it religion or money/politics for which the US is in Iraq right now? Was it religion or politics that led us into WW2 to defend the Russians and help overspread communism over all of eastern Europe? (etc.)

No...I'd say if we had more religion, there'd be alot fewer wars- as I am a religious person, and I will never take up arms just because I am commanded to by a government, to do their killing for them. (I would defend my property and national borders though).

People kill in the name of government because they dont have true religion. My religion says "Thou shalt not kill" and onlyu makes exception for self defense or the punishment of capital crimes.

Imagine if the whole world believed "Thou Shalt Not Kill" and refused to be commanded by other men to do their killing? It'd be kinda hard to throw a good war.

All wars are about power, and it is fact that most people use religion as a tool for enlisting soldiers.

I believe that billion of people throughout the ages would have been saved if religion had never taken off.

Lots of them.
Wars are caused by greed, hatred, or just plain selfishness. Look at how many wars were started by Godless people.

Hitler, Mussolini, Idi Amin, those are just a few I can name off the top of my head who were ANTI-RELIGION and they started some of the most destructive wars ever.

Stop blaming the religion and blame the people who do the actuall killing.

Most religion teaches people NOT to kill. Mankind twists or ignores that to suit their own agenda.

IT'S PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE.

GOT THAT????????????????

Religion is just an excuse. There would still be as many - from politics, land, oil, greed. A very few wars are from religious reasons only.

I think there would be almost just as many. That is a good point. The scriptures do not support war,man dose with his twisted interpetation of them. Pride and man made traditions is the problem to mention just two

All Wars are about land and money.Religion is just one of a hundred excuses to get it going.Just because someone starts a "Religious" war doesn't mean God approves at all.James says that in his epistle.

There would be as many wars as there are now - they'd just find other excuses to have them.

It's not religion that causes war - it just offers the most convenient excuse. It's -humanity- that causes war.

I would guess that there would be apporximately the same amount. War, when broken down, typically is waged for money. People may claim it is a "holy" cause but when it all boils down it is because someone wants something that someone else has.
