If you check though, it was the Democrats that tied the hands of the military. It was Lyndon Johnson who tried to fight a "limited war". It may have been Ford who pulled out, but Democrats put us in there in the first place and it was Democrats mostly who demonstrated against the war.
The facts are the US was winning, Democrats and socialists were stirring up trouble against the war, and Ford was only giving them what they wanted. If you are making parallels between the war in Iraq and Viet Nam, there may be some similarities.
In Viet Nam, the Chinese were basically at war with us through a proxy nation. In Iraq, it could be said we are now fighting a war with Iran and Syria through proxy fighters and militias.
The difference is, in Iraq we were taking a blood thirsty thug, who WAS working on developing WMDs, out of power. Who did have chemical and biological weapons, some have been found, and some have been moved to Syria.
Whether it was a Republican that pulled us out of Viet Nam is irrelevant today. Ford has passed on. Blaming the Republicans for losing the Viet Nam war is not constructive today except to show the world you seem to have a hatred for Republicans.
If you have a concern about us losing in Iraq, then blame the Democrats who are again making this a political war instead of a war to stabilize a democracy in the heart of the Islamic totalitarian homeland. It's the Democrats today that seem to hate those who are willing to risk their lives in a foreign country, so that we don't have to worry so much about having another terrorist attack in our own homeland. It is the Democrats who are calling for a time table for withdrawal, whether we are winning or not.

Actually your history is flawed. Congress CUT OFF the money promised in the agreement between South Vietnam prior to the US pulling out ground forces. Part of the Paris Peace accords between the US and North Vietnam is that the United States would bomb the North Vietnamese if the sent regular troops into the south. Well the broke the agreement and when Nixon then Ford wished to send air support congress(Democrats) cut-off all funds.
Lastly, it was Walter Cronkite in 1968 that announced on National TV that the war in Vietnam was lost. WHo was president? Why Lyndon Baines Johnson (Democrat) both houses of congress were democratic. Moral of the story:
Democrat=failure.

You're wrong in your statement. Eisenhower sent the first troops in the form of advisors to Vietnam in the fifties prior to that we supplied the French forces and provided them with air support all under Eisenhower. Kennedy sent more advisors and then Johnson sent ground troops. Nixon was in office and began the drawdown of troops in 68 and we turned Vietnam over to the Vietnamese in 72.
We did still provide air support but at a much lower scale than in prior years. Ford was in office when Vietnam fell in 75 due to the lack of funding by the Democratic controlled House and Senate. I might add that we had promised Vietnam that we would continue to fund them and our politicians lied, as usual. Also to be remembered is that Kissinger told North Vietnam that if they waited until we had drawn our troops out of Vietnam we'd have No problem with turning our heads to the war.
Guess that their is just too many people to blame for the way that war was fought and ended.
Yes I was there in 67-68 as a Marine Grunt!!

Wow this statement is so completely false I cant understand how you think its even postable.
Nixon and Later Gerald Ford had to clean up 10 years of mismanagement, and failed policies brought about by John Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson both of whom were from the democratic party.
When Nixon took office in 1969 the operations within Vietnam were so completely messed up by the former administration that the only choice was to just pull out.
JFK, and later LBJ were under the assumption that going to war in a half-@ss manner was possible. They coined the term "limited warfare."
Like Harry Truman another democratic president thought in Korea they believed that they could send in military forces and place restrictions on how they fought, where they fought, what objectives they could take ect ect even though these restrictions were contrary to the recommenations of the military.
Your statement is totally false.

Oh, please. I don't need a CNN clip being of that age. The major ground forces had been out of the country for quite some time under the Vietnamization program of the Nixon administration, and Giap had failed once before in a "phase III" push against ARVN when they had materiel. He succeeded that time because Congress (very Democratic at the time, by the way) cut off all funding, and the South Vietnamese ran out of things to fight with.

It was a democratic president that lost the viet nam war way before the republican got the troops out,in fact ,neither president should take the blame because the real culprit was the democratic controled congress who pressured both Johnson and Nixon to get out of Viet Nam

Do Democrats know the war was escalated under a Democrat president (Johnson) and started by a Democrat (Kennedy)? Do Democrats know that it was the Republican congress that passed the Civil Rights Act and that libs like Al Gore's father voted against it?
Thanks Dems.

My. aren't you the distorted historian ! Dipstick, if you recall, Gerald Ford was simply following through with Nixon's election promise. Richard Nixon was elected on the promise that he would end the war in Vietnam, and by 1970 he had already told the Marines to stand down with any offensive measures against the N.Vietnamese.

Yes you are right but the Democrats started it and kept it going all the time till the country couldn't stand it any longer so they voted them out and the republicans got us out as fast as they could! The country demanded it and they did it, Just the opposite of what is happening to the war in Iraq! Get ready to accept the blame for running!

Yes but it was also ended by a Republican president. Republicans ended all the wars that the Democrats got us involved in. Those wars were WW 1 WW 2, Korea, Vietnam, and other wars. So if it were not for the democrats some 200,000 + American soliders would still be alive. THANKS DEMOCRATS FOR KILLING OUR TROOPS!!!
