things you want to happen actually happen and then go ahead and pray for a month and count up what you want to happen happen? Do you think the results would be similar? Just wondering if any are willing to try.

LOL. You know guys, I never said material things. I wasn't actually thinking about material things, you guys did that on your own. I was talking about real prayers. You know, dear god, please help my neighbors leg heal. That's what I was thinking, but ok.

That's a good question-- but no, prayer is part of who I am now, so there is no way I could go for a month.
You would probably have to find a group to pray and then a group who doesn't care to pray (for whatever reason) and then compare the two.

Not at all! I don't believe it is our duty as christians to keep track of what we prayed about or we will have no time for anything else in our lives. What should matters the most is that you make sure you take your time to pray about things that matters to you. If you wonder who keeps the track of your prayers, I don't think anyone included God keep a track of it. All He cares is that you take your own personal time to connect with Him. He knows that you have so much going on in your life that to Him, your time is so precious, which matters so much more than the "count" of the prayers you have said to Him. Hope this help you feel better. :-)

Not praying for a month would be a bit like refusing to speak to a family member for a month. Even if I wanted to do it, it would damage my relationship with that person. I do not pray for things, like making a list for Santa. I pray to communicate, and because it gives me strength.

I expect all my prayers to be answered.
If they don't get answered today the way I want them, I'll just keep praying. God answers prayer, sometimes the answer is no or not just yet.

Why would you pray for material things. Is that your idea of God?

Nope sorry. I put all my problems in the hands of God and He's never let me down. You really should be less hung up on what YOU need, and maybe think about helping others. I agree with Boo.

So you'd like me to treat God like a magician pulling favors out of a hat for me? What, exactly, is it you think we pray for? "Please God, I really want those shoes, can you please get them for me?". Please. A lot of my praying is just saying 'thank you' to him - does that surprise you? You think it's silly to pray to God for anything that isn't material? I'm not willing to give up my daily chats with God's just to try and prove some point to you. I don't particularly care what YOU think: I care what God thinks.

I pray for the Lord's will to be done ...if he blesses me I'm thankful . Romans 8:25 "But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it ".

No I don't do that. That would take up too much time and work to do that.
