I don't think people should forget that the Internet is a global communication tool.
Mastery of the English language is NOT necessary to be a great engineer. Communicating effectively to your peers and customers is what is important. That means mastery of your own language.
Engineers typically have 130+ IQ but this doesn't necessarily mean you can't have a lower IQ and still succeed as an engineer.

Practicing engineers need to understand math, physics, and chemistry. However, engineers usually need to be patient, analytical, and inquisitive.
I knew a lot of people who struggled a lot more than I did during college but through hard work they managed to graduate too.

I am speaking from my own experiences as an Engineer.
I would say that an IQ above 115 is what is required to be a good engineer. The requirements, however, do not stop there. They include the genuine desire to master the mathmatics, physics, chemistry and the applied science courses such as statics, dynamics, electrical, mechanical and so on.
It is a long hard road of constant long hours of study and years afterwards of on the job experiences that makes for good engineers. Good luck to you and if you have the desire to become an engineer do so.

A good grasp of the English language would be a great first step. Then a solid knowledge of mathematics and physics. The rest depends on what sort of engineer you want to be.

Just about anyone can be an engineer with hard work and patience. Why I was just working on a lab report yesterday from 12p -10p. Being analytical can help a lot as well as understanding math and physics.
