I am most likely going to join a Catholic church in my area, but I keep wondering about something. Will I be discriminated because of my race? I am an Indian (no, not Native American, Indian. People in the South always think I am Native American). I doubt that this is true, but I have heard that some sects of Christianity (like Presbyterianism) can be little divisive when it comes to race.

P.S. If I offended any Presbyterians, I am not trying to be rude. This is just what I heard about some of them.

No you will not be discriminated against in the Catholic Church. After all, Catholic means universal. Come join us, we will welcome you. Your first step should be to go make an appointment to discuss it with the priest or deacon at the church and he will set you in the right direction. There are many Indians in our Church as a whole. One of the priests at my local church is Indian and he's a wonderful priest. I am Catholic and if you have questions you can contact me through my Messenger which is available on my personal info page.
TO THE MORONS: CATHOLICS ARE CHRISTIANS!!

Christianity is based upon the concept that all people are children of God. That makes us brothers and sisters regardless of race, nationality, language, and so on. The are many Christians in countries around the world, even though they may be the minority in some lands. There are Christians in India. My own denomination has joined in partnership with the Church of South India, a Christian denomination indigenous to India. We have had Indian (both kinds, Native American and South Asian) members in my own congregation and even though the majority of the church members are of European heritage, I think the members from India were welcomed and included.

Anyone can convert to Christianity! Especially to the Catholic Church which means "Universal", meaning it is opened to everyone.

Don't let individual "Christians" get you down, especially because they're not being real Christians if they do.

I'm so glad you're joining the Catholic Church established by Christ himself :)
Welcome Home!

You'll be in my prayers.
God bless and have a happy Easter!

The Catholic Church is world wide. It welcomes all. By the way, there have been Christians in India since the 1st Century. St Thomas brought the Church to India and is buried there. God bless you at Easter.

Anyone can convert to Christianity. In the Scriptures, it is taught, anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

We are each equal in Christ. If a particular church is giving you a hard time because of your ethnicity, then they have issues. The Bible makes it very clear that one is not better than another.

Absolutely anyone!!!!

I don't think you'll be discriminated against, churches are pretty happy places. Presbyterians are generally a more liberal group, too, so I don't know about that. Anyway, good luck!

There are all kinds of people who can be divisive - but that's not due to any religious affiliation. People who would discriminate against you because of where you're from, or your skin color are just behaving badly.
