i want to lighten my hair. it's dark brown at the moment, and i want to make it a medium or light golden brown. would it alright to do this with an at home kit? i was thinking to use loreal preference, or natural match. which is better?

I have really dark hair, and I always dye my hair blonde. I go to Sally Beauty Supply and buy a bottle of color and a bottle of developer, usually I use L'Oreal Feria when I buy a bottle of color. If you use a store bought kit you are more likely to turn your hair orange no matter how much lighter you are trying to go. Good Luck.

NO! don't use a home kit. They fry your hair and turn it bright orange (orange based color) or magenta (purple based color). I've seen it ruin pretty hair Just go to a salon and get caramel highlights

I think it's always best to go to a professional when making a big change.
