Because too many people are not directly affected by our actions in the war. Oh sure, they'll complain if gas prices go up, but you don't see them crying at the grave of those who recently died. Many people don't know it, but you can look at the deaths each day by name, rank, where and how they died, and where they were from and age online (after families have been notified) at http://www.icasualties.org/oif/ . If everyone looked at this list, each day, people might change. But some people still have the attitude that if it doesn't affect them, then they just don't care. But to those of us who serve, or have loved ones who serve, we care. We know the names of those who've died, and we morn even though we didn't know them.

The insurgents don't have any rules of engagement. They blow themselves up with you. They want you dead and don't care if they are alive or not after you die. Haven't you heard of this? Do you really want them in your neighborhood, going to your school, shopping in your favorite market or sitting next to you in the theater. I have no idea about American idol but, from where I am sitting, I can see the home of a United States Marine helicopter pilot who didn't make it home alive. I know his name and I won't put it on this site to be trashed by you good for nothing loser dumbocrats.

Sorry i don' t know the names of any idols ( well except for the latest craze in the news, what's his name?)
and aside from Cindi Shehan's publicized son, i have no name recollection of the 3 thousand plus dead soldiers. I do sympathize with their anonymous families.
I am more concerned about the live ones, the hurt ones, the traumatized returnees who will go the way of most Viet-Vets.
I empathize with their relatives, their children, and the moral, physical and financial legacy of war.
Ashes to the wind--dust to dirt. Sad friends, mad families grieve for lost humans. Insurgents are driven mad with aggression. How do we reconcile human loss to human dignity?
At ten years of age i was overcome with tears in front of the tomb of the unknown soldiers; now i know why. not because they had killed other people, not because someone had killed them, but because they had died alone, no matter their country of origin, ultimately nameless.

Well unlike American Idol, the deaths of the soldiers aren't broadcasted world wide at prime time. And unlike the contestants on American Idot, soldiers aren't gonna be forgotten at the end of a season.

What would happen if defeatocrats werre around during WW2? We'd all be speaking German.
We're not losing the war on terror, true our men are dying but they die in the name of freedom.
The terrorists, like the g00ks, are suffering heavier casualties than us. Unlike Vietnam we're actually winning in Afghanistan, working with the locals to drive the taliban out.

It's the so-called insurgents, freedom fighters, islamofacists, or whatever you want to call these losers who are getting their *** kicked. Sure we publish the nanes of our KIA but THEY are the real losers whenever they mess with our troops. Ask them how many people they lose every time they start something. Just like the VC. Lib press wants you to believe we are losing just like Nam' because they have no balls & actively seek to destroy the very country which gives them the right to publish their treason. are they? I have yet to see a 'body count' for the bad guys, unless you just assume that none of them ever get killed. All you get for information is what the US and Arab press put out, both are biased, so I am not able to make the assumption that the insurgents are kicking any butt more than they are getting themselves
