Well, if you don't mind an outside party, you can have the kids bring their little sleds or whatever and take somewhere to slide and play in the snow. They have snowman paint too! Not many kids that dislike sled riding.

I'd see if I could borrow some of friends sleds (well their kids sleds) in case a kid doesn't have one, or forgets it.

Ahh... the never ending struggle of the winter birthday! We have a 10 year old with a February birthday - here are some things we have done in the past:

- rented a party room at a hotel with a swimming pool
- rollerskating
- birthday party at a local gymnastics studio - kids got to use
the equipment and the inflatables
- indoor amusement park
- movies and a few friends sleep over

Occasionally, the big day falls over spring break when we take a family vacation, and then we are off the hook for a big party. We generally will do a "half birthday" party if this is the case, and have a bunch of kids over on a summer afternoon for outdoor games. Good luck!
