Less than 48 hrs of his alleged death, catholics, protestants and others will be celebrating Jesus' alleged resurrection. Can't these guys even figure out that a day is made up of 24 hours?

I'm sure there is a very good apologetic rationalization for this. Perhaps Jesus' death was being described from a Jewish point of view where days began at sundown. But after his death, which issued in the new law, his ressurection was recorded from a Roman point of view where each new day begins at sunrise. This accounts for the apparent extra day. See doesn't that make sense?

You really didn't do your home-work, did you?

In Jewish reckoning, a part of a day was counted as a day.

So, here goes:

Part of Friday = 1 day
From sunset Friday to sunset Saturday = 1 day
From sunset Saturday to sometime before sunrise Sunday = 1 day

Count them: 1 day + 1 day + 1 day = 3 days

This is further substantiated by those many statements of Jesus Himself and others that Jesus shall rise on the THIRD day (not AFTER three days).

This is the type of ignorance I see here most of the time from people who think they know all about the Bible and who think that Christians are stupid.

Sure they can, but what you need to understand is that the Jewish day in those times (also recognised today) the day starts at 6:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.

So, what we call Good Friday started at 6:00 P.M. Thursday to 6:00 P.M. Friday - Day 1, day of death. Friday 6:00 P.M. to Sat 6:00 P.M. - Day 2, and Sat 6:00 P.M. to Sunday 6:00 P.M. - Day 3, the day the Lord Jesus is raised from the dead, of which is what we celebrate as Easter.

Jesus rose the Third Day

Research before you speak.

Very good point. We celebrate Easter 2 days after Good Friday, yet biblically, Jesus rose on the third day. Easter is a holiday of convenience, I think. It was probably designated on a Sunday because that was already a holy day (Sabbath), and because that way it would not interfere with regular business.

We must keep in mind that Easter is no more truly the date of Christ's resurrection than Christmas is the day of His birth. It is just the date set aside to celebrate it.

Can the asker realize that 24 hours is not the way God defines night and day? Read Gen. 1 of the Bible at your convenience.

The Gospel says He resurrected in the third day from His dead (Friday - Saturday - Sunday) , not after three whole days

The bible don't record how many hours elapsed. That morning of the resurrection is counted for the third day.

Well see he was buried on Friday. The Saturday would be Day 1 and then Sunday would be Day 2. Now you factor in the creation account and that is six days so that brings you to day 8. But then God rested so we're at Day 9. But since it is the Holy Trinity you have to divide by 3 and that that gives you Three Days.

See it is just like creation science.

Yes...but the Bible doesn't say 72 hours...it says 3 days.
Friday - 1
Saturday -2
Sunday- 3

Pretty obvious...even for a non-believer.

Friday 11pm.......sunday 2pm = 39 hours.

Friday = Day 1, Saturday = Day 2, Sunday = Day 3

Now as for the 7 "day" theory.
