After laying on my legs, arms, or hands for a few minutes, I start to feel as though there are pins and needles in them. Is this due to poor circulation?

Not necessarily. I thought it was too. I went to a chiropractor once and happen to tell him that my arms went to sleep when I raised them above my head. It actually is from a pinched nerve in my neck.

When you put pressure on your body, it cuts the blood supply off to whatever part you are laying on. That is natural. My legs do that when I squat down. I told my internest that I thought I had poor circulation in my legs as I could not squat for even a minute before they fall asleep. He said that is more about the muscle mass that supports the tissue and not poor circulation.

Here is a website on poor circulation.http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/sym/circulation_symptoms_printer.htm

Symptoms related to Circulation symptoms:
blueness , coldness , pallor , cyanosis , blue skin , blue hands, blue lips , cold hands , cold feet , poor healing

If you have specific questions you should always talk to your doctor to make sure. Have a good Easter.

My doctor takes his thumb and pushes in really good on my toes then releasing his touch and watch how long it takes to turn from ghostly white to nice pinkish red. The longer it takes the worst your circulation is. I think more than a second or two would indicate signs of circulation problems.

try checking to see how strong the pulse in your ankle/feet are after sitting there for a minute. Also do your feet remain cold most of the time? At least more than other people around you?

Check these things out. This is what my old lady does, and she's a nurse, so...

it depends upon your medical history. Do you have diabetes or have had chemotherapy? Do you smoke? All this could factor in to this problem. It could also depend upon your age.It would be best to talk to your health care professional.
