Do whatever your artist told you to. I had all of my tattoos done by the same artist, he told me to leave to gauze on for 6-8 hours, then apply bacitracin up to 5 times a day, try to keep a layer on it at all times. If it dries out, it will scab up too much, and fade out the tattoo.
After a few days, you will notice some skin peeling. Don't pick it, just keep it moist, and that layer of inky skin will come off.
The use a fragrance free, dye free lotion for a few weeks, a few times a day.
My oldest tattoo is 6 1/2 years old, it is on my bicep and has gotten more sun than it probably should, but has not faded one bit, because I took good care of it.

I got my tattoo yesterday and was told to leave the bandage on for an hour or until it started sticking. Which ever came first. Call the shop that did it, they can asnwer this more accurately. I wouldn't leave it on too long at all because then you risk pulling off healing skin because it's all stuck to it.

Yea you done good. NEVER leave the bandage on for days!. Tattoos are like a cut, they need air to heal. So you don't want to leave them covered. I would usually tell people to only leave the bandage on for upto an hour or two afterwards.

You should only leave it on for a couple of hours and then take it off by applying water to loosen it up, gently pulling it away from the skin. Your friends that left it on for days are lucky it didn't get infected.

You are about right....at least six hours to trick the body into thinking the tattoo has scabbed over....then just keep the moisturizer on it....

u only leave the bandage on for a hour. then u wash it with antibacterial soap. then u need to use luberderm lotion. only swipe lotion across the tat. do not rub it in. do this several times a day. (lotion) always make sure to keep it clean.
