We are like the only Jewish family on our street. I'm sure that everyone is jealous of our success in business. But we had nothing to do with the man known as Jesus dying...that was before we were born...and he was just a man nothing more. What can we do to assure the people in the neighborhood that we mean them no harm (but at the same time we really don't want to hang out with them...they are low caste)

I believe that the problems that exist between you and the Christians in your neighborhood exist because of ignorance. Some Christians unjustly associate Jews with killing Christ when in fact it was the Romans who killed Jesus. Then there is the fact that Jesus was in fact a Jewish person, now whether one's religion thinks that Jesus was the embodiment of God, the messiah, or just another human being is open to interpretation. However, we must be respectful of others varying belief systems if we hope to get along. Conversely, I say to you, to get rid of some of your preconceived notions of the Christians that live around you. Because when you refer to them as low caste you only show your own ignorance. For I am sure that not all of those Christians hate you because you're Jewish, some may even like you but your attitude towards them prevents any type of positive relationships from existing. If you just go about your day with a clear mind you will eventually show them you mean no harm, and you will see that there are some good Christians (Buddhist, Muslims, Hindus, atheist, non-Jews).

Since you have such success in business and the area you live is full of people who are low "caste" then your neighborhood must also be low caste. That must be a very bad thing for someone who is so successful.
I think if I were you I would move away to someplace where the people are not so low caste, I am sure you can afford it.

Hey, Happy Passover! I didn't watch the passion (which i.m.o. has spawned some anti-semitism). I was taught the Jews didn't crucify Jesus it was the Romans (who may have been Jewish). If it should come up, use that to shut'em up. Has worked for me. I don't blame you for feeling upset. Remember both Christians and Jews believe "judge not lest ye be judged". Christians also believe the jews are gods chosen people. Try spending more time at the J.C.C. if there's one nearby (ours is mainly gentile members) this could be a good place for you to get to know more people of different beliefs, so you will know good christians don't care how you worship. Lastly, talk to your Rabbi, he has definately heard this before. Be Well

I'm sure the people in the neighborhood care nothing that you are Jewish or harbor any animosity towards you because of the crucifixion. That's really silly. If anything, Christians know that Jesus had to die in order to save them...so no one would be angry that he was killed...he was supposed to be.

They may not like you because of how you act. That would be my first guess...are you friendly...do you try to get to know your neighbors? Are you rude, or do you talk and talk until people are looking for an exit? Check out your behavior before you go making assumptions about what other people think.

Well I don't hate you. :)

How can they be mad the Jews killed Jesus? Him dying is the foundation of Christianity! He was the final sacrifice! I'm glad he died, that's what Easter is all about.

I really don't know what you could do to make peace with these people. To be accepted more, the only thing I can think of is moving to a more Jewish community.

People have all these old world hangups about the Jews and Jesus's crucifiction. As a Lutheran, I dont hold jews to blame for it. It was God's plan for him to die, so it is not the Jews' fault. People have lots of wierd logic that causes them to rationalize things in all kinds of crazy ways. But I must say that discrimination against christians is not the answer to the problem.

Right on girl you are so much better than those low cast Christians. You don't wont want to have anything to do with them. You know what you should put a bag of do do on their front porch set it on fire, ring the door bell then run away. Hide behind the hedge and watch them try to stomp it out. Its so funny. They will forget all about Jesus, cuss and everything.

I guess it goes on for ages. Jesus was a Jew also; or born in the Jewish faith. Christians believe that He was put here on Earth to show us another way of living and believing.
I'm so sorry you are going through so much persecution, but Jesus did also.
We all do.
Believe in your heart and your soul.
We are all God's children.

they are low caste? what exactly do you mean by that? perhaps you think a little too highly of yourself and that may be why people dislike you... not because of your 'faith' but because of your attitude. you need to stop generalizing saying 'Christians' hate you.... for if they are true Christians, they do not hate at all....

I personally would not hang out with someone who presumed I was jealous of anything about them.... i don't judge a person by their success or their appearance or their religion.. but by their attitude and how they treat others

Most Christians think Jews are pretty neat. Some are just plain fascinated by Jews. But Christians really can't stand stuck up snobs. Most people, especially us lower caste types, don't like snobs of any religion...
